If you live in lagos, you might need a canoe to get out of your house today and this has been the case in the last 2weeks‼️
Dear @tokunbo_wahab, the poor state of drainages around Lagos has finally caught up with us. Residents cannot leave their homes without wadding through a pool of water.
What are the emergency measures that are being taken to combat this terrible situation???
People are losing their homes and getting land locked, unable to commute because of the flooding.
In this video, you can see a mother carrying her child through the flood just to get her to school‼️
📍: Sabo Yaba, at 9am this morning.
Lagosians, quote this tweet with the situation of flooding in your area!

ATTENTION!!
This is the state of Kachi PHC in Dutse LGA, Jigawa state.
The hospital management renovated the roof last year but the work done was so shoddy, less than a year after, the facility is back to how it used to be. Leaking roofs, no medical supplies, and no water.
The roof leaks inside the wards when it rains, making it hard to receive patients.
We call on @Fmohnigeria and the @NphcdaNG, to facilitate the immediate renovation of this facility.

Today, through the Nigeria AI Scaling Hub (NAISH), we announced Nigeria's national shared compute infrastructure hosted by @Galaxybackbone and backed by the @gatesfoundation. Access to compute has become one of the defining constraints to AI innovation globally, so by creating shared national infrastructure, we can significantly reduce the barriers facing researchers, startups and public institutions, enabling them to build world-class AI solutions here in Nigeria.
The Nigeria AI Scaling Hub (NAISH) is a national platform established to accelerate the adoption and scaling of Artificial Intelligence across Nigeria by connecting innovators, researchers, startups, government, academia and development partners. It provides the infrastructure, partnerships and support needed to move proven AI solutions from pilot to large-scale deployment, while expanding access to critical resources such as shared compute, strengthening collaboration across the ecosystem, and enabling AI innovation to address national priorities and compete globally.
The launch of the Hub also marks the commencement of the Scaling AI for Development (SAID) Challenge, a practical initiative that will connect government institutions with Nigerian AI startups to solve real public sector challenges.
My sincere appreciation to the @gatesfoundation, @LBSNigeria, @Galaxybackbone and every partner helping to build an AI ecosystem that is open, inclusive and capable of delivering meaningful impact for Nigerians.
Applications for the Scaling AI for Development (SAID) Challenge are now open. If you are building proven AI solutions that can improve public service delivery, I encourage you to apply at https://t.co/mdF3v42M3h.

Speaking on Northern Nigeria's development challenges, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, delivered the keynote address on behalf of Vice President Kashim Shettima @officialSKSM, Chairman of the National Human Capital Development Steering Committee, at the Summit on Enhancing Human Capital Development in Northern Nigeria.
He noted that the region's greatest challenge is not a lack of potential, but insufficient investment in education, healthcare, nutrition, and skills development. He described the Human Capital Development (HCD) 2.0 Strategy as Nigeria's roadmap to achieving a Human Capital Index score of 0.6 and ranking among the top 80 countries globally by 2030.
He called on governors and development partners to translate commitments into measurable results through sustained investments that improve the lives of citizens.
“We must resolve that the northern child born this year will be healthier, better fed, and better taught than the one born before it not with grand declarations, but with budgets extended and funded, teachers deployed, and clinics equipped.”

I wish Hon. @B_ELRUFAI the very best as he begins a new chapter in his political career. He has served his constituents well, and we are proud of the legacy that has marked his tenure as the representative of Kaduna North 👏
Congratulations to the Super Hon. @B_ELRUFAI
Even though I already sent my congratulatory message earlier, I still feel compelled to celebrate you here because you truly deserve every bit of it. You are the people’s choice, and your emergence is a testament to the confidence and trust that people have in your leadership.
May this new chapter bring greater opportunities for service, impact, and success. Wishing you all the best as you continue to represent the aspirations of the people. Congratulations once again!
Yesterday after Eid prayers, I paid a Salah visit to my brother and friend, Sadiq Umar of @ValenciaACF at his private residence. He is an exceptional football talent who continues to make Nigeria proud on the global stage. I consider him to the greatest export from Kaduna North on the global stage. I am proud to call him my friend, brother and business partner in our journey with @RanchersBeesFC
Our conversation was filled with laughter, reflection, and shared hopes for the future of sports development in our country, especially through our Ranchers Bees Football Club. I am grateful to his mother, Hajiya Asabe (Baba), a mother to all of us and a pillar of the community. Her prayers and support on my political journey were very touching. She has always been an ardent fan of dear father and reiterated her support for him.
Sadiq remains a shining example of discipline, resilience, humility, and dedication. It is always inspiring to see young Nigerians excelling internationally while still maintaining strong ties to home and community. He was the one that recommended I pray at Eid on Maiduguri Street and I was happy to oblige.
I wish him continued success, good health, and greater achievements ahead for both club and country. May this Salah season bring peace, joy, and renewed blessings to us all.
Signed
Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai

Thank you to H.E. Lerato Mataboge,@_AfricanUnion Commissioner for Infrastructure & Energy, for the warm reception at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa today. The meeting was made even more meaningful by our shared connection as Tutu Fellowship alumni.
We had a productive discussion on strengthening the African Union’s participation in Project BRIDGE, Nigeria’s $2 billion open-access fibre initiative, particularly the energy component that will be critical to powering sustainable digital infrastructure. We also explored broader opportunities for collaboration to accelerate investment in digital infrastructure across Africa, unlock greater connectivity, drive innovation, and support economic growth. An important part of our conversation focused on strengthening Africa’s AI capabilities, including the need for shared compute infrastructure and greater investment in the foundations required for the continent to fully harness the opportunities of artificial intelligence.
Our discussion also covered preparations for the upcoming Specialised Technical Committee (STC) on Communication and ICT, where we will continue advancing a collective African agenda for digital transformation.
We further exchanged views on Africa’s engagement within the @ITU, including the importance of a strong, coordinated African voice in the lead-up to the leadership elections at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 in Doha, Qatar.
This meeting reinforced the importance of deeper collaboration across the continent as we work to build the digital foundations that will power Africa’s future prosperity.
Eid Mubarak!
Today as we honor Prophet Ibrahim, Eid al-Adha reminds us that sacrifice is not a burden. It is an opportunity to see ourselves as part of something larger. To extend a hand to those who need it most.
I am honored to be New York City's first Muslim Mayor and I am determined to lead through solidarity. Together, we are working to ensure every New Yorker can afford the groceries, housing, and child care they need.
Our solidarity is our strength. Eid Saeed, New York.
Eid Al-Adha to all our Muslim faithful ✨
Wishing you a peaceful and joyful Eid celebration, filled with gratitude, reflection, and warmth.

Eid al-Kabir: Earlier today, @ProfIsaPantami led the Eid prayer at Al-Ahfad Eid Ground, Nassarawo, where he also delivered the Eid sermon after the two raka’aat prayer.
The gathering, which attracted thousands of worshippers, featured both the Eid prayer and the sermon. In his message, he spoke on the challenges facing Nigeria and the world, particularly insecurity and economic hardship, and called for peace, understanding, and love among people.
He also spoke on one of the beautiful names of Allah, As-Salaam, meaning The Giver of Peace, reminding the congregation that true peace and security come from Allah alone.
