Huge news! Grateful when I think of the many individuals, churches & orgs that joined our campaign.
Thinking of the Afghan-Aussie friends we've had the privilege of doing this journey with. We know there’s more to be done.
Thank you @AlexHawkeMP#ActionforAfghanistan#Budget22

👏GOOD NEWS👏: The Government has announced $1.4 billion of additional aid to our region over the next 4-years.
We welcome this while continuing to call for further urgent aid to help fight famine in the Horn of Africa, Afghanistan, Yemen & Syria.
#HelpFightFamine#Budget2023
The Aust Govt has gone beyond its election commitments in tonight's Budget in directing a $1.4 bn boost to foreign aid
ACFID warmly welcomes the boost, which helps bring stability to the aid budget & means much-needed programs can be delivered with certainty
📈BUDGET💰
Tonight we expect to welcome $1.4 billion in extra aid to the Asia-Pacific👍
Meanwhile the situation in the Horn of Africa is dire😔
In Somalia, 300,000 people face starvation
We must support our region but also look beyond it

ANNOUNCED: $900 million of additional aid to the #Pacific!
Thank you @SenatorWong and @PatConroy1 👏
"This investment will help create better futures for all and is a positive step towards rebuilding Australia’s aid program to more generous levels." @TimCostello#Budget2023
ACFID welcomes the Govt's announcement that it will commit an additional $375m in aid in the Pacific
“This is a strong step towards revitalising the intl dev program that is a core component of our intl engagement & foreign policy settings" Marc Purcell

Response from the sector peak @ACFID
“We really welcome these additional commitments from the government, given the significant needs in our region and beyond. Human development went backwards due to the pandemic and Australia should be providing more support,” @ACFIDCEO
The framing in this piece is very geopolitical, so it will be interesting to see the detail, and hoping community based poverty alleviation is well represented, along with other civil society strengthening measures.
Thank you Pastor Ray and everyone at Scarred Tree Ministries in Sydney for welcoming us with warmth, prayer, songs of praise and words of hope.
You are ambassadors of Christ and we will continue to walk alongside you in His name on the long journey towards justice and healing.
“Famine is at the door. The world is receiving a final warning." Surely we can do more? Australia please step up to #HelpFightFamine ASAP with a $150M investment in the response: @PatConroy1@SenatorWong

Thanks @MiskyHaji - we stand with the Somali diaspora and look forward to advocating powerfully together for both emergency famine relief and long-term solutions to food insecurity in the region.

@WorldVisionAus welcomes the $15 mil provided by the @AustGovernment. But given what I am seeing on the ground in the Horn of Africa a serious commitment of $150 mil is needed to stop #humanitarians from taking from the hunger to feed the starving. #fightfamine@SenatorWong
