Stanley Druckenmiller ran Duquesne for 30 years.
30%+ a year. Not one down year.
His edge wasn't being right more often. It was what he did when he was right.
- Diversification is for people who don't know what they own
- Find the 3-5 ideas you understand better than anyone
- Let the best one be big. His top holding today is 20% of the book.
- When the fundamentals and the chart agree, size up hard
- When you're wrong, cut it before it matters
That's it.
"It's not whether you're right or wrong. It's how much you make when you're right and how much you lose when you're wrong."
Put all your eggs in one basket. Then watch the basket.
A lot of traders donโt have an idea problem.
They have a filtering problem.
There are thousands of stocks, dozens of themes, endless charts, and far too much noise. The real job is narrowing that universe into a small list of names that actually deserve attention.
Thatโs how I use https://t.co/GEJpgVvdaY.
I start broad with market and group strength, then use ThemesLab to identify the strongest themes, surface the top 5 names inside each one, and filter for setups that meet my own criteria.
The point isnโt to find more trades.
Itโs to get to the right opportunities faster, with context already attached.
I've been a stock trader for 43 years. Based on my experience, the market will never outsmart me and take my capital during bear markets or sky rocket without me onbosrd for the ride during bull markets. That sounds very arrogant, doesn't it. But wait until you hear the reason why.
Because I never try to outsmart the market.
What i have learned is humility. The market is always right. And if I am yielding to its message, I can never be outsmarted by the very force I am respecting and staying in gear with.
There's a fortune in this one paragraph.
$DELL $HPE $NTAP $DDOG $SNOW $OKTA $CRWD are still some of the most interesting bases and themes for me.
The only caveat is the market's overall health, which is poor.
Waiting for a catalyst/trigger for a trending market again.
Want to Know If the Bottom Is In? Read this.
Since $QQQ just printed a gap-up candle, the next thing I'll be watching is the Follow-Through Day (FTD).
One of William O'Neil's most important rules for confirming a market bottom.
How it works:
- Market is in a correction. The first day an index closes higher = Day 1 of a rally attempt.
- Days 2-3 don't need to be up. The rally stays alive as long as Day 1's low holds.
- Then on Day 4-7, watch for one major index (S&P 500 or Nasdaq) to gain 1.25%+ on volume higher than the day before.
That's the follow-through day. Downtrend over. Confirmed uptrend.
The rules that matter:
- Not every FTD works - many fail
- But no bull market has EVER started without one.
- Undercut Day 1's low -> the count resets
- FTDs after Day 10 carry lower success rates
What to actually do on an FTD:
Don't go all in. Buy starter positions in leading stocks breaking out of sound bases. If the rally is real, they work - and you add. If it fails, you're barely exposed.
O'Neil's whole point: you don't predict bottoms. You confirm them.
Corrections are for building the watchlist. The FTD tells you when to use it.

One feature that would be a game changer: an option to lock selection area to a preset aspect ratio, such as 16:9 (landscape) or 9:16 (portrait).
Keep up the great work!

5. If the price drops 50%, add 50%.

7. If the price rises 20%, still hold.
8. If the price rises 30%, sell 10%.
9. If the price rises 40%, sell 20%.
10. If the price rises 50%, sell 30%.
11. If the price rises 60%, sell 40%.
12. If the price rises 100%, sell everything.
Don't forget to save it to look back on laterโฆ
