The Swedish Government has been a leader in supporting education worldwide in underfunded countries such as Rwanda, Uganda, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Now they are considering canceling the program. Encourage them not to. Sign this petition https://t.co/aMQVqhPdQ1 via @ChangeTR
Great to see student presentations of their results in solving industry problems for the PIC Math program @ MAA MathFest in Philadelphia @maanow @TheSIAMNews @NSF @tpsemath
@Twitter Attending session on Building Institutional Structures for Student Success at AMS Meeting. @VictorPiercey1 is talking about IBL and their project of collecting Genocide stories. I know people in Rwanda and Cambodia. Stories are important. @COMathInquiry#COMathInquiry
@VictorPiercey1 @mathprofcarrie @maanow@DrMathL@llbaker1707@mathyadriana Great idea. PIC Math teams can work on problems related to nonprofits, community engagement, and social justice. Some have already done this but there is room doe more innovative approaches.

Who are your math heroes? Check out these remarkable mathematicians, highlighted in Michael Dorff's (@mdorff44) Retiring Presidential Address! #MAAthFest#ItAllStartsWithMath
Huge thanks to Darren Narayan, Michael Dorff, Suzanne Weekes, and the rest of the PIC Math team for organizing a great intro workshop on helping students find math careers in business/industry/government! I feel so lucky to be a part of this family! @mdorff44@SuzanneLWeekes
Wouldn't it be much more fun if the earth orbited a triple star system?
No years, unpredictable seasons😯, random daylight hours, utter chaos, and some very very hot weeks!! 😳
Simulation made with @geogebra (NSolveODE at its limits !!!🧐).
My last article as @maanow president is about personal failure - something we all encounter but rarely discuss or share publicly. I wanted to tell about some of my failures hoping it will help others understand that they are not alone in this. @mdorff44@amermathsoc@TheSIAMNews
@maanow Political agendas should not determine mathematicians' ability to explore ways to improve the teaching of math to all people and the understanding of all math including climate science, the spread of diseases, and equitable voting.
@maanow Most teaching of math encourages just 2% of students to continue in math. We can do better. We can improve by reaching out to those who are left behind by understanding our biases, why our current approach is not working and exploring new ways to excite more people about math.
