The problem is as we tried that and the credit cards get canceled all the time. And then there’s the security issue of maintaining credit cards on file. We just calculate the fees upfront. In the past, we did use collection agencies. Even though we never saw a dime, it did affect their credit ratings, and every once in a while, someone trying to buy a house or get a new car loan would call and pay off their debt to lower their interest rates. But then the laws changed and disfavored medical practices and collections recovery. OF COURSE.

Now imagine if you got paid $100 to review that test. It would change our responsiveness. Of course we still need boundaries, but psychology comes to play. Elective non-urgent Free work does not get prioritized. Think lawyer: they will bill you by the minute even from a toilet if they are thinking and “researching the phone” about your case. The incentive is not outcomes for them, it is time spent and compensation received.

I always wonder if they even use the cleaning fee for real cleaning. I’ve been to so many Airbnb’s where it looked like the last person had just left. I think that a lot of people just pocket the Cleaning fees and hire Juanita, the illegal from Mexico to “clean” for them. I have seen a video of one of these cleaners using the same cloth to wipe down the floors as she did to wipe the countertops. There needs to be real standards, just like as expected of hotels.

They have likely already done the math. It’s going to be cheaper for them to send the imaging out than to keep it in house. That’s the Kaiser model. Anything that requires technical overhead or is not lucrative for the system gets referred out. They would rather pay out of network referrals for a few than support the system internally.
