@KellyCrandall The viewer numbers seem to change like the weather. A lot of variables. If Iβm going to the track put me down for earlier start times. If Iβm watching from home I donβt care what the start time is. π€·πΌββοΈ
@JGinfo@MonsterMile@RayEvernham 500 laps at Dover. Times change, but Iβll take the extra 100 laps of racing and fun any day. At 400 we were just getting warmed up for the last 100. π
ABSOLUTELY! Didnβt like having to wait for the car to stop in the box before jumping, but the extra safety was worth seeing the car come flying down pit road! #nopitroadspeedlimit
My first trip to @ItsBristolBaby was spring of 1986 with Dave Marcis, and I realize the place was having races way before then, but Itβs unbelievable how a race track could transform like Bristol has.
@jcoker1 I was sitting right across from this in those old covered grandstands. The end of the race was a great battle between Waltrip and Petty. Great memories!
On this date [April 2] in 1995: Jeff Gordon won the Food City 500 @ItsBristolBaby. 5th career #NASCAR Cup win; 1st win on a short track. JG in Victory Lane: βShort tracks had always been trouble for us. When it's your day, it's your day and no one is going to take it away.β
Jeff Gordon's 8-race stretch at Darlington Raceway from 1995-1999 remains legendary. From the 1995 Southern 500 thru the spring race in 1999, he won 5 times and never finished lower than 3rd, with a 1.6 avg finish. He won the Southern 500 a record 4 consecutive times. #NASCAR
On this date [February 23] in 1997: Jeff Gordon won at Rockingham for consecutive wins to start 1997. He is one of 6 drivers to win the first 2 races of a #NASCAR Cup season: Marvin Panch (1957), Bob Welborn (1959), David Pearson (1976), Matt Kenseth (2009), Tyler Reddick (2026)
Just rememberβ¦this is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, athletes in the world talking about what being a Daytona 500 Champion means to him. π
