Pairing the ancient principles of mind-body medicine with the latest neuroscience about the effects of trauma on the brain to reveal a path towards healing.
@PeterAttiaMD & Spitalnick, dismissed meditation as a key tool for rewiring our brains to heal from anxiety, a symptom of the modern human condition. Artificial constructs (thoughts v thinking) are irrelevant if we understand the basis of a mindful approach. WE ARE NOT OUR MINDS.
@PharmAlaBiotech@BellevueDoc 67%!!? In other words, on par with the usual Big Pharma Rx for mental health and wellness. A better approach would be to design a healthcare system that is person centered & trauma-informed. The healing can’t happen if people don’t feel safe. Another drug won’t change that.
@ParnassusBooks1 Re: #AnnPatchett interview. Complaining about how she ached after writing a book, how the pandemic was an opportunity for safety & community for her loved ones seems lacking in perspective! Ann, come down from your ivory tower - see how The People work and live.
@NIHFunding Pauses on the funding of the cutting edge NIH research may provide a window to focus on the aspects of healthcare that are more impactful for the masses such as a robust approach to community primary care and preventive medicine including the social drivers of health.
@Peter_Wehner Does doctrine matter? It seems to me “doctrine” is mostly about control. In general, mindful, free, thinking people can figure out what is right and true. And, act accordingly!
@WSJ “Clues Left by a Killer Echo Widespread Anger at Health Insurers” Rather than beefing up security, perhaps corporate healthcare will implement reforms that empower our communities to access better preventive care and treatment for chronic medical problems. …too optimistic?
@BellevueDoc These profit driven practices have devastated our communities, made our work stressful - even undoable. The responsible thing would be to implement healthcare reform. However, I suspect the response will be more along the lines of heightened security for those in c-suites.
@SVG__Collection The nicotine (& other substance) addiction among these other worldly artists in jazz was devastating. Too bad we didn’t know then what we know now!
@TheAtlantic Of course America has a caste system! Class matters. The educated elite in David Brooks article have consolidated wealth for generations. The white liberals: powerful people concerned with hoarding resources while keeping up the appearance of doing the right thing!
@therealbrom Pro-psychedelic, maybe. Pro-capitalism, definitely. For this reason, I suspect the psychedelics and all of their magical healing powers will soon be upon us. Oh goody! More recreational drug use. Next, I will look forward to treating psychedelic dependence and overdoses.
@CapehartJ See Bell Hooks (& Cornell West for that matter!) who wrote extensively about the Imperialist White Male Capitalist Patriarchy. No Black woman can win the US Presidency. It is akin to Megan Markle thinking she would join the Royal Family. We all saw how that went!
