The divisiveness that Moore caused with the ERLC is now well known, but what divisiveness have we seen under Leatherwood tenure? Let’s review.
1) He continued partnership with the Evangelical Immigration Table, despite its Soros funding and its leftwing parent org, AND despite the fact that many southern Baptist oppose the amnesty policies that the EIT promotes.
And the ERLC continues to lie about the nature of this organization.
2) He helped block an abolition bill in Louisiana that MANY Southern Baptists supported.
3) The ERLC generally has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from outside, left-wing sources to produce political material that is being handed out to SBC churches.
4) In the name of Southern Baptists, Leatherwood backed a gun control bill in TN that many Southern Baptists opposed,
5) He publicly cheered Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment to SCOTUS even as she could not define what a woman is. His reason: we should celebrate having a black female on the court.
6) He used ERLC resources to stop the release of the Nashville trans shooter’s manifesto, again against the wishes of many southern baptists,
7) During the election, he furthered Democratic Party talking points in praising Joe Biden for selflessness in withdrawing from the campaign when it was clear to everyone that Biden was being forced out because of his mental infirmity.
SBC representatives should not speak such foolishness, but they should certainly not do it in southern Baptists’ names.
And in all of this, as pastor after pastor has tried to call the ERLC to account, they have stiffened their necks and refused to be corrected.
They have been belligerent and arrogant and assumed that they speak ex cathedra and can hand down Southern Baptist opinions without regard to the actual feelings of Southern Baptists. This must end.
Vote to abolish.
I find it interesting that I have heard a lot about the Cooperative Program and NOTHING about the Gospel in this Convention “sermon”. #notasermon#SBC2025
I cannot believe that I am skipping my daughter’s 3rd birthday to sit here and listen to Cooperative Program propaganda masquerading as a Convention Sermon.

The SBC passed a resolution on the abolition of abortion.
The ERLC fought to keep abortion legal in Louisiana.
They do not care about the will of the Messengers or the Churches.

Fire @LeatherwoodERLC. He worked to kill an abortion bill in my home state of Louisiana. He will not support equal protection under the law for unborn images of God. We need to tear down the @ERLC before we rebuild it. #SBC
Brent Leatherwood is up here doing his best Christopher Walken impression to kill time for questions, while flashing the PR pictures he’s arranged in the last two months.
Shameful behavior, but utterly unsurprising. #SBC25
Two things can be true at the same time:
1) Of course Southern Baptists support defunding Planned Parenthood
2) The ERLC cannot honestly claim credit for Planned Parenthood getting defunded
If Messengers cannot direct an entity and cannot interfere with internal operations of an entity, then how did the Messengers direct the EC to waive attorney-client privilege?
If we are concerned with the “opinion of our legal counsel” why didn’t that matter then? #SBC25
One more note about the vote to unseat FBC Alexandria’s messengers, and this is important for all messengers to understand as they consider the need for the Law Amendment.
The Credentials Committee made it clear that they were removing FBC Alexandria not because of the female pastors they have employed but because of the church’s stated views on senior pastors.
Apparently, the committee still believes that the BF&M’s teaching on the office of pastor/elder/overseer only applies to the senior position (which is what caused the year-long delay on Saddleback in Anaheim). The committee’s rationale would still allow for a variety of female pastors serving in associate pastor/elder/overseer positions.
This shows that the committee STILL needs the clarity that the Law Amendment provides. Their recommendation gives us no evidence that they believe the female pastors at FBC Alexandria were at odds with the BF&M.
Opponents of the Law Amendment are going to try to convince messengers that the vote on FBC Alexandria shows that we don’t need the amendment. But the Credentials Committee’s stated rationale shows that we do.
The Credentials Committee needs to know that friendly cooperation requires that churches only call qualified men as ANY kind of pastor. We can give them that clarity with the Law Amendment.
I encourage you to vote for it tomorrow morning.

@KayTimes @mboorstein He uses the same word in 2 Corinthians 8:23 – which is always translated as a messenger in that verse. So he could have been also referring to her as a well thought of missionary or church planter – not someone with the authority we traditionally ascribe to the Apostles.
@KayTimes @mboorstein I figured you were going to attempt to go with Junia. I only have limited space so I will simply say that applying an Apostolic title in the traditional sense is a misreading of the text. If it was a woman he was referring to her as being well thought of among the Apostles or
Y'all.
Bart just said "It is against our by-laws to allow anyone to speak disparagingly of anyone."
Except Todd Unzicker.
And Jarrett Stephens.
And Willy Rice in Nashville.
And James Merritt in Nashville.
Platform, y'all.

Let me be clear. If you like this Unzicker sermon, you're the problem. If that's you, I know you don't get it, and that's the problem. You don't know what time it is. You’re just a “nice guy” who means well. You’re the simple fool from Proverbs.
