The No Complaining Rule.
You're not allowed to complain unless you bring a solution.
So don’t complain just to vent. It doesn’t help anyone. Instead…
Bring a solution.
Bring an idea.
Bring a better way forward.
The most valuable people in any room aren't the ones who point out what's broken. They're the ones who help build the future.
Less complaining.
More creating.
Peyton Manning shares what separated the best leaders he played with.
"The best teams I played on - our best players practiced the hardest every day. They set the example every day."
"They were sitting in meetings, taking notes, paying attention. Our young players are like, 'Holy cow - this is how they do it here. I'm gonna take notes. I'm gonna pay attention.'"
Culture is caught, not taught.
The best players lead by example. They set the standard and everyone else rises to meet it.
"When we got on the practice field - full speed. Taking snaps full speed. Walk-throughs. Everybody's intense. Calling audibles like it's a game."
"Talented players that are unselfish and set the example in the building as to what it's gonna take - that's critical."
The best players don't just perform on game day.
They set the standard every single day in the building.
That's how culture gets built.

Many youth players spend years working on difficult moves.
Meanwhile, elite players master the fundamentals:
Footwork.
Balance.
Passing angles.
Decision-making.
Finishing.
Shooting mechanics.
The fundamentals aren’t basic.
They’re what show up when the game gets hard.
The people who love you most will push you, not just praise you.
Praise feels good but it doesn't always make you better. The people who truly love you will celebrate your wins and still look you in the eye and say you're not done yet.
Find those people and don't let them go.
There’s an old Chinese proverb that I love:
“He who blames others has a long way to go on his journey. He who blames himself is halfway there. He who blames no one has arrived.”
Everyone wants to coach stars.
Give me the kid who dives for loose balls.
The one who picks up full-court, crashes the boards, and fights through every screen, every single time.
Relationships first. Excellence follows.
“We sell relationships over transactions. We think the relationship still wins out because the relationship allows you to push people and demand excellence.”
- Kirby Smart 🥇
Transformational coaching wins.
Today's basketball often celebrates difficult shot-making.
Elite basketball celebrates creating easy shots.
Open layups.
Paint touches.
Corner 3s.
Free throws.
Advantage attacks.
The best offensive players don’t prove how tough a shot they can make.
They prove how easy they can make the game for themselves and their teammates.
“Preparation to win is much more important than the will to win. But if you combine the preparation to win and the will to win, I get chills thinking about it.”
Coach K 🔥
If you watched your
1. Missed shots
2. Turnovers
3. Amount of standing watching the Ball
4. 1st 2 steps to the offensive glass, running the floor and in recovery defensively
5. How quick you get back on D after a turnover, missed shot or non call.
You’d get better QUICKLY
What does being “Coachable” look like?
- Eye contact
- Good body language
- Nodding when listening
- Growth mindset
- Seek feedback
- No excuses
- Leave ego at the door
- Accept criticism
Being coachable isn't knowing it all.
It's being willing to learn it all.
Great teams don’t make excuses. They make adjustments.
No…
“Yeah, but the refs…” “Yeah, but they’re more talented…” “Yeah, but we were tired…”
Accountability starts when the excuses stop.
