@corey_builds_@PeterAmbrozy@levelsio sure it has benefits, but are those benefits meaningful? if the true purpose of life is a Christian one, all the exercise in the world won’t bring meaning to me, an unbeliever, and it won’t bring extra meaning to you, because you already believe.
@corey_builds_@PeterAmbrozy@levelsio well fair enough, that puts us at a bit of an impasse then.
but i’ll still say that games are no less meaningful than watching a movie or reading a book or bench pressing or any number of other activities you likely do for enjoyment.
@corey_builds_@PeterAmbrozy@levelsio there’s no inherent meaning in any activity. you’re allowed to do things just for the enjoyment of doing them; not everything has to be some productivitymaxxing grind.
wasn’t it *fun* to get good at those games?
@levelsio video games are designed experiences in which every piece of the world is crafted for the enjoyment and entertainment of the player. the real world is not like that. good games don’t have unsolvable problems, long feedback loops, fruitless tedium… the world is full of those.
Daniel Ellsberg dies at 92. He leaked the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret Vietnam War history, in 1971.
The former Defense Department official hoped giving newspapers the 7,000-page document would end the conflict. https://t.co/BN68wCkDPB
“Twitter’s self-reported data shows that, under Musk, the company has complied with hundreds more government orders for censorship or surveillance — especially in countries such as Turkey and India.”

@SirClaud Poison can deal with those options but it's not free. 8-2 makes me think I'm missing something fundamental about the matchup, not just that I need to execute the standard gameplan better, you know?
@SirClaud well it's not *only* jump-ins. I should've said this instead: standing at Poison's preferred range still feels like a fight. He's got a lot of options from there too: EX fb, spaced TK, walk forward MK, etc. Even losing a trade pushes them back to fullscreen, where Sagat wins.
@ListonthePrince yeah of course. I guess I should've phrased it like this: standing at Poison's preferred range still feels like a fight. He's got decent options from there too and even if he loses a trade, it pushes them back to outside that range, where he wins. 6-4 sounds right IMO
@totalsagat@jav1ts@Sonnyb19@Zaferino1@SirClaud@PianoDensetsu@ListonthePrince@AutoMattock @_Poooh3_ Yeah I mean that's pretty much how I play it, but that means Poison wins by an accumulation of +30 damage trades, which she has to earn by swinging from jump-in range and reacting perfectly. I think she's got an advantage but 8-2? Feels a lot more stressful than that to me
@SirClaud Poison wins fb trades but gets pushed out of range after blocking 1 or 2. In that situation if I ever hold MHR and try walking forward to reposition for the trade, I risk getting jumped in on, whereas it's not as big a risk vs other fireball characters.
@SirClaud@jav1ts Yeah, was trying to keep it short. IMO Sagat's jump-ins are scarier than others because he can convert from so far. His https://t.co/HubVpP0cBZ is big and can convert to full combo from max range with https://t.co/5S25bMFc1h into VT cancel.
