@jvick60@0IvankaTrumpRV2 Iran was going to build a nuke as soon as Trump cancelled the nuclear deal. This proved that the USA could not be trusted to keep its word. So now, why would they make and deal, give away anything, knowing the US could break the deal tomorrow.
@IrishTimesOpEd O’Toole misses the real reason for the opium war - trade deficits. China sold tea to Europe in quantity in 1800’s. They took payment in silver -draining much silver away from Europe. Opium sales were to recoup some of that silver. Not moral or defensible, but economy driven.
@John83778200 @AdameMedia There’s an old saying, “if things can’t go on this way… they won’t.”
The USA every year spends $1.25 for every $1.00 they take in. The GoP is determined not to raise taxes - in fact they’re lowering taxes. The trouble is that a modern country costs money to run.
@TheAmericaStore@realDonaldTrump I still think if he made Israel pull back to 1967 lines, abandon the illegal settlements, pull out of Gaza and make peace with the Palestinian Authority and help them control the radical factions - if he did that, even I would say he’d earned the prize.
Only he can do that.
@allenanalysis Do they know? How many senators would you recognize? How many VP’s of a Fortune 500 corps or Wall Street banks? How many billionaires are instantly recognizable to a 16yo schoolgirl? Unless they are Hollywood celebrities likely they wouldn’t know them…
@TomJChicago Stop criticizing him. He knows what he’s talking about. He got a business degree from Wharton, where one prof said his intellect was notably different from any other student he’d ever taught; he has run multiple companies many of which did not go bankrupt…
@atrupar Most people don’t become big shots in a major corporation, especially one on Wall Street, by being remarkably clever about the business side of the corporation- they get there by being the best (slimiest) at office politics and sucking up all the way up. Hence, Litnick.
@gaysfortrump@Acyn@atrupar Colombia (not Columbia) basically said “no military planes and no shackles. Treat them like human beings.” Trump caved, gave them what they asked for, and declared victory anyway. Civilians planes took the deportees, unshackled. FYI Mexico did the same.
@Ronxyz00 @Acyn Chief Inspector Dreyfus: “How does an idiot become a policeman!? Answer me that!”
Inspector Clouseau: “It is simple. He applies like everyone else.”
@haaretzcom What nobody on the Israeli right explains is the end game. What will the long future look like? A perpetual occupation? That’s worked so well so far. A united Israel where Palestinians have the vote too? The only logical end game is two separate states.
@AmericanHubener @elonmusk One person does not speak for all Islam, probably not even for a substantial number of them; any more than the Israeli cabinet ministers who call for the extermination or expulsion of all Palestinians speaks for all Israelis let alone all Jews
@JamesLucasIT As long as we’re talking pies in skies, run it down to Beijing, through the central Asian countries with a spur to Indonesia. Good time to also build to South America and bridge the Darien Gap.
@SethAbramson I don’t understand- how does a CEO of I assume a public company give “special deals” to his friends and not be violating his fiduciary duty to shareholders? How is he (or Pecker at Enquirer) not liable?
