So you're a new track and field fan because of the Paris Olympics and want to keep up with the sport?
Welcome! There's lots to be excited about!
Here are a few quick tips on how to stay and keep up with the sport post-Games...
1. Follow @CITIUSMAG 🧑💻
Shameless plug. Our mission actually is: Make it easier (and way more fun) to be a track fan. We're constantly hitting you with news, analysis, commentary and more on the latest in the sport + who/when/where to watch the top stars in action throughout the year. We do it via our social media channels, newsletters, podcasts, YouTube videos + more.
2. Follow your new favorite athletes 📲
Whether it's @itsgabbyt, Julien Alfred, @cole_hocker, Letsile Tebogo, @QuincyHall400, Faith Kipyegon, or Yaroslava Mahuchikh, their Instagram pages tend to be the best place to learn where they're competing next, how training is going and how else to support them.
3. Where will the athletes compete next? 🏃
Many athletes will run in some of the Diamond League meets scheduled over the next month. For example, we'll see Cole Hocker vs. Jakob Ingebrigtsen in Lausanne next week over 1500m again. In addition to Olympic rematches, expect some time trials to capitalize upon their peak fitness to break world records.
Upcoming meets: Lausanne 🇨🇭 (Aug. 22); Silesia 🇵🇱 (Aug. 25th); Rome 🇮🇹 (Aug. 30th); Zurich 🇨🇭 (Sept. 5); Brussels 🇧🇪 (Sept. 13-14)
If you hold onto that Peacock subscription, you can watch these meets on there through the rest of this year.
4. Mark your calendars 🗓️be joining
There are plenty of track championships ahead. 2025 will feature the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing (March 21-23) 🇨🇳 & the World Championships in Tokyo 🇯🇵 (Sept. 13-21). 2026 debuts the World Ultimate Championships in Budapest 🇭🇺 (Sept. 11-13). The 2027 World Championships will be in Beijing 🇨🇳 (Dates TBD).
🔜 Next year, some of the top stars will join @GrandSlamTrack – a professional league by @MJGold aimed at having the best track athletes compete against one another at least four times per year. 2025 will be its inaugural season. The league will have 96 athletes competing in the short sprints (100m/200m), short hurdles (100h or 110h/100m), long sprints (200m/400m), long hurdles (400mh), short distance (800m/1500m) and long distance (3000m/5000m) categories. The winner of each category will be awarded $100,000 at each Slam. Broadcast details have yet to be announced. Two meets will be held in the U.S. and two will be international.
Reddit co-founder @alexisohanian will be hosting a new women-only track event called @athlos NYC on Sept. 26 in New York City. 36 athletes, including Gabby Thomas and Faith Kipyegon, have committed to the event for a chance to earn $60,000 for the win in the 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1500m. Megan Thee Stallion is set to perform at the meet.
5. 📺 Go back and watch old races
There are tons of races on YouTube including on the NBC Sports YouTube channel. Educate yourself on some of the backstories of the athletes with documentaries like SPRINT from @BoxToBoxFilms. Some athletes do a fantastic job sharing their respective behind-the-scenes on their own channels like @LylesNoah, @tar___ruh, @RCrouserThrows, @mrgnmcdnld, @JakeSWightman, etc.
6. 🗣️ TELL YOUR FRIENDS.
This really is the best sport out there and we all want to share in that excitement with many more people.
(If you're a track and field fan getting peppered with questions on how to stay hooked on the sport after the Olympics, feel free to share this advice!)

Coach Flo knew big things were coming for Julien Alfred. Now she's an Olympic Champion and will be competing in the 200m final later this afternoon.
We had Coach Flo mic'd up at the 2019 Big 12 Indoor Championships. He knew Julien Alfred had more in her when she was a freshman at UT.
