We caution against buying any medical device that has not undertaken a clinical validation to the latest protocol, and peer-reviewed. #hypertension#diabetes
A medical device is not accurate until scientifically proven to be so. From over 5,000 Blood Pressure Monitors listed on https://t.co/EL3HoRE7Pa little more than 4% have been proven to be accurate. The chances of buying an inaccurate device are extremely high. Time to check.

What the AHA recommended Blood Pressure Monitors listing will look like before they publish it based on their own published criteria. Of concern is the criteria used includes non-scientifically “proven to be accurate” devices and excludes devices that are? https://t.co/t4G2C8YcQf
In those already on BP meds (i.e. white coat effect), there really does not seem to be an increased CVD or mortality risk. These individuals should also be monitoring their BP out of the office (including to avoid over-treatment) 3/4
As you can infer, our broad conclusion is that there is a need for greater adoption of out-of-office BP monitoring. Importantly, this is contingent upon correct technique, using valid devices. For more information, see

@ranndywithtwons@ZGJR@OmronHealthUS Thanks for tweet reply. Having the HeartGuide validation published enables us to 2 star rate it. Having us certify it as “clinically accurate” would award it a 4 star rating, a great achievement, for such new technology. We publish within weeks rather than months in the Journal
There appears to be no peer-reviewed clinical validation information available on the technology used in the Omron HeartGuide BP8000-M to measure blood pressure, and as such is not recommended at this time.

@drjosflynn@hswapnil@AnastasiaSMihai@DrJMLuther@thebyrdlab@BloodPressureM The accuracy of BPM's measuring on inflation versus deflation is the same if the BPM has been clinically validated in the first instance, without violations, peer reviewed and published, to a recognised and current protocol. The market is awash with junk devices see, @medavalltd
@DaichiShimbo@nataliebello9 There are over 3,300 BPM devices in the market place that we know of, but only 36 have been validated in pregnancy from a total of 364, or just over 10%.https://t.co/xq3q4fQ8UI for more analysis. The position with BGM's is no better, and will advise more next week.
