The Ottawa Police Service has concluded a five-month investigation into an unlicensed after-hours venue operating in the 100 block of Rideau Street, resulting in dozens of charges.
The probe began in September 2025 after complaints from the community about a previously licensed location allegedly running as an illegal late-night establishment. Officers conducted interviews, reviewed municipal and provincial records, and analyzed nearly 100 hours of seized CCTV footage while identifying 21 individuals linked to the operation.
Search warrants were executed during the investigation, leading to the seizure of electronic evidence.
In collaboration with Ottawa Fire Services, Ottawa By-law and Regulatory Services, and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, investigators determined the business was illegally selling alcohol, operating a shisha lounge, using unlicensed security staff, and breaching Ontario Fire Code requirements.
Police have charged 10 individuals and two corporations. Eleven additional suspects have not yet been identified. In total, 85 Provincial Offence Notices and four Criminal Code charges were laid.
OPS says enforcement efforts targeting unlicensed establishments remain ongoing to protect public safety and ensure fairness for compliant businesses.
