Dad. Writer. Mets fan. Faithful Catholic. Not necessarily in that order. Views expressed are my own -- even if I disagree with them. @TempleUniv @RollinsCollege
@threeinningfan A.J. Ewing and Carson Benge give me hope for the present and future with Juan Soto. Christian Scott and Nolan McLean are long-term pitching solutions. Jonah Tong will develop. When Francisco Lindor returns, I’d make him available for trade along with Mark Vientos. #YaGottaBelieve
My son asked me a sobering question:
“After we (he and his sister) leave for college and careers, and get our own places to live, you’ll be the only one home. What will you do for the next 30 years?”
My #GenX brain was activated: “Risky Business” comes to mind. #Entrepreneur
Thank you to all who fought and sacrificed in freedoms defense all those years ago. Incredible footage here. Blessed that both my uncles survived and will never forget the over 400,000 who did not come home.
@deGromMuse@Jolly_Olive By realizing I’m a lifelong, loyal fan, not an investor. It costs me nothing to cheer and hope for the best, as I do with each of my favorite teams in various sports. I do nothing to help them win, and nothing to make them lose. It’s purely emotional entertainment.
Dear @WhiteHouse, my name is Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service in Huntsville, Alabama. Through our 50 Yard Challenge, over 6,000 kids across the country have signed up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and single parents. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year and me also being born on July 4th, I wanted to humbly ask if a few kids from our program and myself could travel to Washington, D.C. to help mow the White House lawn for this historic celebration.
More than anything, I want these kids to see how a simple act of service something as ordinary as mowing a lawn for someone in need can lead to extraordinary places. What better lesson in community service than showing them that helping others can take them all the way to our nation’s capital? I’d also love to bring my American flag-themed mower in hopes that the President might sign it, so I can later auction it off and donate 100% of the proceeds to a nonprofit supporting veterans. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight the importance of service, patriotism, and the impact young people can have when they choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸

@JoeyWahler During those dark seasons of the late ‘70s, and following the devastating trade of Tom Seaver, Mets fans wanted to embrace their favorite players and hold on tight. Lee Mazzilli was a matinee idol — handsome, hometown boy with talent for a floundering franchise. #ItalianStallion
@dingo1414@ernestdove Agree. No one should have to subscribe to multiple streaming services or be subject to blackout if they have already paid for https://t.co/zJUPDl6D2k access for their favorite team. No exceptions, no matter where they live.
On this day, May 13th 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in Fátima, Portugal. Dressed in white and brighter than the sun, she called them to Pray the Rosary daily for peace in the world and the conversion of sinners.
@MarkCHealey You wouldn’t ask your CPA to fix your plumbing. You wouldn’t ask the plumber to handle your home’s electrical work. You wouldn’t pay your attorney to paint the house. Not all roles are interchangeable for competence and value, on the field or off. Huge disappointment.
While I appreciate the “hustle” by companies (and the algorithm) sending me unsolicited social media ads for restorative beef tallow, hair growth, Italian eye serum and turkey neck solutions, it’s making me a bit self-conscious. I do own mirrors and I’m OK with aging gracefully.
@KevG163 As a young Vikings fan, Joe Senser was the first tight end I recall as more of a receiver than blocker. Dave Caspar was there for a short time, Bob Tucker and Stu Voight had their productive moments, but Senser opened the offense and led the way to the great Steve Jordan. #RIP
@MarkCHealey Maybe Stearns should fall on his sword and resign if things don’t turn around by June 1. Apologize to fans, take full responsibility for overvaluing analytics to construct a winning roster. Show naked accountability for exhibiting hubris as a substitute for baseball wisdom.
I never liked Star Wars. Didn’t watch the original (1977) as a child or any of its sequels until well after graduating college. No interest in any of the “newer” movies or TV series. Just doesn’t appeal to me. #UnpopularOpinion
@MarkCHealey If the Mets win 17 of their next 20 games (or 19 of 23 leading to Memorial Day), they’ll be right back where we need them to be. #HailMary#YaGottaBelieve
