Man, not to get all profound, but just watched this Coldplay hotstar stream from Ahmedabad rn, and it was so nice that it also kind of made me feel like we've been losing a little something as a species since some time. Things and experiences that brings us together, even for a brief moment where we're all rooting for the same thing. No tribalism. Just vibes. Also genuinely feels like itโs had the least percentage of snarky takes on twitter for something of this scale? Wildly rare.
Their entire time doing shows here have felt like a nice phase in time for genuine connection. And I donโt mean in a trite, 'music saves the world' sort of way. Sure itโs only a microcosm of society. Itโs just that itโs so rare for anything to unite a significant majority of people anymore. We donโt root for the same things. We donโt see people feel togetherness on that scale. Just Chris Martin, his gang, and a bunch of strangers feeling the exact same thing like we've been seeing on all these concert reels from last week. Those silly alien masks. That coy Bumrah on screen moment towards the end today. Beautiful. Their brand (and band), proudly over-indexed on love, has shown how good it feels to be united, however briefly, by something uncomplicated and beautiful.
Weโve all mostly tended to be cynical about mass experiences like these and how accessible they've seemed - trained to be suspicious of anything that claims universality. Watching this even on TV felt like a temporary dismantling of those walls. An innocent throwback. Fascinating how a band, even in 2025, can become a kind of secular ritual.
Watched the Coldplay Ahmedabad livestream on Disney+ Hotstar @DisneyPlusHS โ pre/post-show cringe aside, the main event was fantastic and delivered great vibes even from home . Excellent camera work and dynamic shots captured the energy. Audio was a bit off at times, but with Chris always on the move, may be hard to fix much. Solid effort overall! #ColdplayAhmedabad #ColdplayOnHotstar
Bhai dikh gaya Modi ka Gujarat, man is a legend for how he has developed Gujarat, we were 4 friends including foreigners who were visiting Gujarat for the first time and trust me every one agreed that there's a decent difference between average Indian cities and Ahemdabad that I have seen. Cleanliness, infra everything is ages ahead of cities like Gurgaon.
Shout out to administration for managing the 100k+ crowd, running metros till late night. Ahemdabad definitely deserves more such events for people around the world to see how we are faring. The only issue would be the nasty surge pricing, this should be worked on and Locals are welcoming ๐
