RSPCA Deputy Chief Inspector (DCI) Gemma Cooper attended the flat on Tuesday 14 May in the Uplands area after it was believed that the dog – known as Dave – may have been left in the property since 26 April.
“This dog is very unwell and he doesn’t appear to have been attended to for a very long time judging by his poor condition,” said Gemma.
“He has now been taken to a vets for emergency treatment. He has been placed on a drip, is being tube fed and is receiving treatment for anaemia as he has fleas. He is also due to have his nails cut.
“We hope that with some specialist vet care he is able to pull through.”
A microchip was found but the details were attached to the breeder and not to the owner, who is currently unknown.
“At the moment, we don’t know who Dave belongs to,” said Gemma. “What we do know is that his owner had been allowed to stay at this flat with Dave whilst the flat tenant wasn’t there – but his contact details are unknown,” said Gemma.
“It appears that the owner has left Dave there on his own for some time. We’re now appealing for information to try and track this person down to find out what has happened.

RJ is really struggling with kennel life and hates being left, we’re doing everything we can to make sure she’s loved and as happy as she can be but a home is what she really needs..
She is a very large breed and will need a strong, confident owner(s) to put in further training on her walks and confidence building.
RJ is currently walked on an anti-pull harness and walks so much better, she walks in a convey with other dogs, but can be reactive if food is involved (she is very foodie!) and to dogs that are reactive to her first. For this reason she will need a pet free home.
RJ needs an adult only home mainly due to her size and we also don’t know her background. When she came to us she was fearful and unsure, but has since developed good bonds with the kennel staff. RJ now loves the volunteers too and has had little issues meeting anyone new.
She is honestly one of the sweetest dogs with so much potential.. if you have the time and experience to put some work into her and can give her the best home then please call 0151 556 1220 Tuesday - Saturday 9-5 to speak with staff and make an appointment to come meet RJ 🤞🏼💖

Distressing footage shows Thomas Hardy, punching his Cockapoo five times before strangling her, compressing her chest between his legs and swinging her around by the neck.
In one clip, he was caught throwing the terrified Cockapoo into a lift, before kicking her and then smashing the security camera.
SENTENCE
He was given a 12 week prison sentence for each offence — suspended for 24 months — when he was sentenced at Teesside Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 30.
The female Cockapoo was looked after at a private boarding facility on behalf of the RSPCA and has since been happily rehomed.
