So last week for Thanksgiving I ran a headline saying “Turducken Is Performative,” paraphrasing @kimseverson. Over the weekend I got an email from JUDITH BUTLER
@doc_thoughts thank you for your work conceptualizing these limitations in the current analytic approaches. i am reading your work to integrate into a lecture on what are stats & studying racial inequities (even re-defining my vocab for said lecture) for my 1st year mph quant class this week
If you teach statistics, I highly recommend these books. Stats aren't inherently racist; stars were developed and used during a time to reinforce overt racism. These racist strategies were framed as normal and are used to date.
@ElleLettMDPhD @zotero The extension Zotfile may help with this by allowing you to save in a custom location in addition to the directory https://t.co/hXJaafdlf5
@sethfrnd @societyforepi thank you for your insight during our convo! i am happy to have a group of people to rely on for advice as i enter into parenthood very soon (*has mini panic attack*)
@EthiopianNomad There may be some data of interest in the National Survey of Family Growth, and maybe (?) SART has accessible data (not 100% sure how access without being in partnership with an affiliated clinic but haven’t tried either)
@molotweeterpate@molotweeterpate I just spoke with my colleague and right now the COLORS training does not have CMEs but that is the goal for the future. DM me if you'd like more info on the stats details or if you want me to update you when they are available. :)
@QueeringCancer@KristiTredway@DrClaireC@kimacquaviva@BehavioralMed Hi everyone, I just spoke with my colleague and right now the COLORS training does not have CMEs but that is the goal (looking for a funding source currently to pay for them). I can update folks who are interested when they do become available in the future.
A2. Discrimination & fear of discrimination may prevent folks from even walking into the clinic doors. From health care staff & front office -- everyone needs training not just providers. #BehavioralMedChat
A5. Cancer centers need to have a plan in place for in-patient care for trans and/or nonbinary pts. A colleague of mine brought up this issue relating to room-sharing which are often assigned by gender. #BehavioralMedChat
@BehavioralMed I realize I quote-tweeted my responses instead of replying, so I'm pasting that here so all responses are in one place!

A4. Reflecting on this question & #intersectionality itself, remember it is about intersections of oppression not (just) intersections of identity. How does cissexism, heterosexism, racism etc. effect cancer care....
From a #publichealth perspective, we need increased education and awareness for everyone to understand why we need to ask SOGI questions, even when they don't "seem" relevant to the direct care they are receiving. That goes for a lot of surveillance questions.
