"Today I went to Tonekabon prison to meet Vida Rabbani. The bruises on her body were extensive; she had been severely beaten. Because she refused to comply with compulsory hijab, they had pulled out her hair, and the young artist had woven a bracelet from a handful of the hair that had been torn from her head—
a bracelet made from her own hair, beside the bruises on her arm."

These words were written by Vida Rabbani’s husband. Rabbani is a journalist who, after the massacre of people in Iran, along with 16 others, issued a statement calling for a transition away from the Islamic Republic and warning the repressors "to uphold their true responsibility: protecting the lives and security of Iran’s people—rather than carrying out orders to crush them, standing against the nation, or shedding the blood of defenseless citizens."

Following the publication of this statement, Vida Rabbani was arrested along with several other signatories.

زیباترین، پرمعناترین و مدرن‌ترین شعار پنجاه سال گذشته که در ایران سر داده شد، شعار «زن، زندگی، آزادی» بود.
شعاری که به دل می‌نشیند.
نمی‌دانم چرا این شعار زیبا برای عده‌ای آزار دهنده است و اینقدر نسبت به آن خشم دارند.
این شعار، می‌تواند متحد کننده باشد، می‌تواند حمایت‌های کشورهای مختلف را بیشتر جلب کند.
این شعار می‌تواند عده بیشتری از مردم میهن را به خیابان بکشاند.
برای عبور از جمهوری اسلامی نیاز به جمعیت میلیونی در خیابان داریم ...
در حال حاضر جمعیت معترضان داخل خیابان آنچنان زیاد نیست.
روی اصول آزادی، حقوق بشر و عدالت، حاکمیت قانون و نفی استبداد باید تاکید کرد....
