It has come to my notice that a group of eight individuals, representing tenant settlers, refugees, and illegal immigrants in Manipur, is set to meet with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on January 17, 2025, to push for their demand for a Separate Administration.

I urge the MHA to handle this matter wisely. If the Ministry is keen to consider such a demand, it would be more appropriate to identify a location within mainland India where these groups can be resettled and granted Separate Administration, instead of compromising the territorial integrity of Manipur.

It is worth recalling an instance during an official meeting in early 2023, when a senior MHA official expressed reluctance to have these groups resettled in their state, stating, “Please don’t mention the name of my state to accommodate these people. We cannot bear them.” This sentiment highlights the broader resistance across India to such proposals.

India has no legitimate authority to cede Manipur’s territory to immigrants or settlers under any pretext.

To those demanding Separate Administration through violence, including the killing of innocent women and children, your justification for such a demand amounts to terrorism. The government has yet to face the unwavering resistance of the indigenous people, who stand ready with all their valor and spirit to sacrifice everything for their motherland.
