There are some things about Ireland you don't really understand until you've been away from it.

It's not the Cliffs of Moher.
It's not the castles.
And it's certainly not something you'll find on a list of Ireland's “Top 10 Attractions”.

It's smaller things.

The smell of soda bread when it comes out of the oven.
Someone putting the kettle on without asking whether you want tea.

A conversation in a pub with somebody you didn't know twenty minutes earlier.

Being told something is “grand” when it is very obviously anything but grand.

A place name you've heard all your life because your grandparents came from there.

A song that suddenly reminds you of someone.

A family surname that makes you wonder where the story actually began.

That's the Ireland we find most interesting.
Of course, we love the famous Ireland too.

But there are thousands of little stories, traditions, places, foods, expressions and peculiarities that make Ireland Ireland.

And we don't think you need to live there to enjoy discovering them.
That's why we publish Love Ireland every weekday.

Justice has still not been served. If you are looking for media and general public outrage, you’ll find very little. August 15 is just another day now. I for one, Omagh, won’t forget.⚠️

Today in 1998, in the market town of Omagh, County Tyrone, a car packed with 500 pounds of explosives tore through a crowded street. The blast killed 29 people, including a lady seven months pregnant with twins, and injured more than 200. The dead came from both sides of the Irish border. Two were tourists from Spain. The youngest victim was just twenty months old, the oldest 65.

It was the single deadliest attack of The Troubles, and it came less than three months after over 71% of voters in Northern Ireland had endorsed the Good Friday Agreement. The peace process had seemed to promise a new beginning. Omagh reminded the world that there were still those determined to drag Ireland back into the blood and rubble of the past.

The Real IRA, a splinter group formed in October 1997, had broken away from the Provisional IRA over Sinn Féin’s acceptance of the Mitchell Principles. These were the non-violence pledges laid down by US senator George Mitchell, special envoy for Northern Ireland. Former senior member of the Provisional IRA Michael McKevitt, and his wife Bernadette Sands-McKevitt, sister of hunger striker Bobby Sands, rejected the new course entirely stating "Peace is not what our people fought for, they fought for independence".

The Omagh bomb was planted by the Real IRA. On the day of the attack, a Real IRA caller phoned Ulster Television with a warning: Bomb, Courthouse, Omagh Main Street, 500 pounds explosion, 30 minutes. The message was too vague. Police evacuated the courthouse area, herding shoppers and families away from one danger and, unknowingly, toward another. The maroon Vauxhall Cavalier where the real bomb waited.

At 3:10 pm, Market Street erupted. Shopfronts collapsed, cars were hurled across the road, and shards of glass scythed through the air. Survivors spoke of a blast so loud it seemed to rip the sky in two. Many of the injured would carry scars, visible and otherwise, for the rest of their lives.

Three days later, the Real IRA admitted responsibility, insisting that civilian deaths had not been their intention. It was a commercial target, part of an ongoing war against the Brits, they claimed. We offer apologies to the civilians. Their words rang hollow. This evil deed was an appalling act of savagery.

No one has ever been convicted of the bombing in a criminal court, though several men were later found civilly liable in a landmark lawsuit brought by victims’ families. In Omagh itself, memorials stand as reminders of a day when the promise of peace met the worst kind of violence indiscriminate, deliberate, and unforgettable.

Never again can we tolerate the atrocity of terrorism and the destruction of innocent life on this island. Never again.

Rape victims are often accused of adultery under Sharia law if they report being raped by married Muslim men.
Here is a shocking example:

A 13-year-old girl in Somalia was raped by a married Muslim man. Instead of punishing the rapist, an Islamic Sharia court sentenced the little girl to death. The Muslim rapist accused her of “seducing” him by appearing in public, and the court agreed — convicting her of adultery.

Hundreds of Muslim men gathered to stone her to death as an offering to Allah.

They laughed, cheered and shouted “Allahu Akbar” as she screamed in agony until her last breath. Not one man stepped forward to save the 13-year-old rape victim.

Everyone in the village heard her cries for help before the execution. Instead of intervening, they tied her hands behind her back and chained her feet. The local imam directed the men to dig a hole and bury her up to her waist so she could not move or dodge the stones aimed at her head.

For hours before and during the stoning she begged for mercy, looking toward her neighbors, her father, and every Muslim man taking part. Until her final breath she cried out, but no one rescued her. Of the hundreds of men present, none showed compassion.

The participants gladly joined this Islamic act of worship, ignoring her pleas and rejoicing with “Allahu Akbar” while brutally killing her.
This is not an isolated barbaric act.
This is Sharia law in practice — where the victim is punished and the rapist protected if he is married.

Not all cultures are equal.
Some protect the innocent.
Islam punishes the raped girl and calls it justice.

The West keeps importing this ideology while pretending it is compatible with our values.
It is not.

Share this. The world must see the true face of Sharia and stop the denial.
