@Matthardy_BR You should be ashamed of yourselves. Also you took a picture of him while he was on his property. That’s illegal, and he should have taken a picture of you and took it straight down to the police station for harassment
Are they really trying to boycott M&S because a retail worker did their job while being trans? Like could someone explain to me like im 5 what the issue is?
@Keir_Starmer Stop pandering to the right. People voted Labour, meaning they want left-wing policies. I know a lot has been done but it doesn’t help when you do things to appease the right. Take care of your core.
Game about r*ping your own mother: “It’s just a game! Stop being so sensitive!”
Game with LGBTQ, women leads, diversity: “THIS WOKE BULLSHIT IS RUINING GAMING!”
Last night, I replied to a post from the leader of the @Conservatives, Kemi Badenoch.
It was regarding her remarks about Lucy Connelly and why she thought that her refusal of a Release on Temporary Licence was incorrect.
It sparked some serious backlash from those on the right that seem to think she was locked up for 'hurty words' — that ludicrous phrase again.
With the limited time available to me before I had to sleep, I responded to many comments but thought, perhaps, I would write it here to make things clearer for those that need it.
This was treated as a Class A offence — the most serious:
“In relation to your culpability, this is clearly a category A case – as both prosecution and your counsel agree, because you intended to incite serious violence.”
That quote is from the judge in his sentencing remarks. It shows that, when Connelly pleaded guilty, even her own defence conceded that this was of the utmost seriousness.
She admitted to this offence, remember. And, further notes in the sentencing remarks say that she made jokes about her post on a WhatsApp group to say that:
“raging tweet about burning down hotels has bit me on the arse lol”
That make things a bit clearer, right? She thought it was funny to suggest that people burn down hotels with asylum seekers in it.
The other piece of this picture that folk aren't understanding is the case of Ricky Jones, the Labour councillor from Dartford.
You cannot conflate the two cases. Lucy Connelly pleaded guilty and was tried and sentenced under the sentencing guidelines for her offence — a gravely serious one.
Ricky Jones' remarks were, in my opinion, on a similar level, and he will be tried for them in August.
But … he didn't enter a guilty plea; hence a trial. Anyone can plead not guilty to a crime they are charged with, even the most heinous of crimes. That is the law, and then they are entitled to a fair trial.
That's why he's not in jail. It's quite straightforward.
Toby Young and Allison Pearson would have us believe that there has been a miscarriage of justice — there has not.
Now we have the leader of His Majesty's Opposition questioning the validity of the case, for what? To score a few cheap culture war points. I find that both gross and very sinister — she is deliberately undermining the rule of law.
There is a cottage industry springing up around the far-right when they are found guilty of their crimes. See Yaxley-Lemon for example. He has many followers that don't believe he did anything wrong.
Take a step back. Not everything is a conspiracy. Sometimes, bad people do bad things. When they're locked up for their crimes, be grateful that our justice system occasionally functions properly.
NB. I am, in no way, a lawyer, but this stuff feels less complicated than it is being made out to be.
Read the sentencing remarks for yourself:

@2thousand000@agraybee I just love seeing people who think know everything being so easily proved wrong and then crying about it. But since it's hurting your feelings now, I'll stop.
@2thousand000@agraybee lol you're the one who said Malta is full of millionaires. And now you're saying it's irrelevant. Wow, talk about losing an argument...badly!! 😂
@2thousand000@agraybee I'm Maltese. A tiny island where everyone is basically related. I know what I'm talking about. But yeah sure, I'll trust you, who probably can't event name 3 towns in Malta 😂😂😂
@2thousand000@agraybee Choose better sources then. No huge wealth in Malta (there's no oil or other resources to exploit). Most rich people are those who bought passports. Certainly not Maltese people
