@SebAaltonen The problem is that shipping new features is very often not bound by engineering productivity. 3x engineering productivity might end up in 3x unshipped features.
@109mae it helps me with knowledge base and automation. I would have hated to have to write python and shell scripts myself. For a huge code base it’s also nice to ask AI where to look if I want to change something not in my area. I still review all suggested changes manually.
@109mae Your case is different you are a one man company so for you AI is doing all the manual labor that you yourself have no time for. But those huge tech companies already have enough people to do everything so they should focus on efficiency rather than more power in my opinion.
@109mae But the way it seems to be rolled out right now is that engineers are told to use AI to be more productive so we have 10x lines of code produced that still don’t get shipped. But the token cost goes up. I think that Uber news is about that.
@109mae Never meant to be. But that is the way AI is being introduced in big tech companies. Basically people are told to just use AI for everything because high level executives are afraid that the competition is using AI and will put them out of business.
