Social psychologist, assistant professor @ Bryant University. Research: identity cues, inclusion, stigma, prejudice reduction | Opinions my own | she/they🏳️🌈
New paper in SPPS from me & @chris_petsko! In 3 studies, we examined the extent to which people view bisexual individuals as similar to gay and heterosexual individuals, with a particular interest in whether this differs by the bisexual target's gender. https://t.co/g95Qa924Er

1/ #TenureTrack faculty often get the advice to keep a record of everything you do before tenure.
But what does "everything" mean? Here's a list of some tenure-relevant activities and a template to keep track of all of them.

@GordonHodsonPhD @CRISLab_RU@AnaliaAlbuja @Dr_DSanchez I expect that anyone who is motivated to downplay reports of prejudice will use whatever information they can to do so. I would hope that blatant examples of prejudice would be much harder to write off as personality perceptions.
@GordonHodsonPhD @CRISLab_RU@AnaliaAlbuja @Dr_DSanchez Research does suggest that disagreeableness consistently correlates with prejudice, but it is still unknown whether minoritized groups are picking up on these relationships. In future work, we hope to further explore the root of these inferences.
This work suggests that disagreeableness can serve as an identity threat cue for people with minoritized identities. This article is available open access at https://t.co/pvyvD2VKU0! 5/5
New article out with @Dr_DSanchez and @AnaliaAlbuja! In this work, we find that people with stigmatized identities expect disagreeable people to be more discriminatory, prejudicial, and hierarchy-endorsing than agreeable and low conscientious people. 1/5
New paper alert 👇 👇. In short, people with stigmatized identities infer A LOT from disagreeable traits (a person’s level of prejudice, hierarchy endorsing beliefs). And it’s not merely about likeability!

Importantly, this research does not suggest that all disagreeable people are discriminatory, but rather indicates that people with stigmatized identities expect disagreeable people to be discriminatory. 4/5
