This Saturday in Harare, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Hon. Prof. dr. Amon Murwira, presided as the Guest of Honour at the 64th Independence Day Celebrations hosted by the Embassy of Uganda.
Delivering Zimbabwe’s message, Prof. Murwira said the bilateral relations between the two countries are firmly explained in Section 12 of Zimbabwe's Constitution and the profound philosophy of Ubuntu.
In a speech that seamlessly blended political philosophy with aggressive trade metrics, the Minister asserted that under the supreme law of the land, Pan-Africanism is a strict constitutional obligation.
Operating under the flagship doctrine "Zimbabwe is Open for Business," he called for the urgent dismantling of obsolete, colonial-era tariff frameworks to fully unlock the 1.4 billion market potential of the AfCFTA.
Highlighting practical commercial wins, he mentioned the Zimbabwe-Uganda Business Forum and commended Uganda Airlines for its four weekly flights to Harare, which are expanding to pair the majestic Victoria Falls with Uganda’s mountain gorilla tourism corridors.
The Minister extended profound gratitude to President Yoweri Museveni for backing Zimbabwe's landslide election to the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, a historic milestone that mathematically captured 96% of the global vote and shattered any false narrative of international isolation.
This partnership highlights growing regional recognition of Zimbabwean companies, boosting the country’s reputation as a source of local expertise, innovation and sustainable development solutions @byopra@CityofBulawayo@DavidColtart@GeoPomonaZW
GEO POMONA SIGNS WASTE MANAGEMENT COOPERATION DEAL WITH BOTSWANA.
Zimbabwe’s @GeoPomonaZW has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Botswana Government in Gaborone, witnessed by President Duma Boko.
The agreement, signed by Geo Pomona CEO Dr Dilesh Nguwaya and Botswana Deputy Permanent Secretary Tshepo Kebakile, covers waste collection, recycling, landfill rehabilitation, technology transfer and capacity building.
The partnership positions Zimbabwe to export its waste management expertise to the region, drawing on the transformation of Harare’s Pomona dumpsite.
The MoU is a cooperation framework, not yet a project or implementation contract.
@Jamwanda2 Ministerial appointments should be judged by results, not criticism. Zimbabwe needs leaders who deliver results while protecting the country’s economic interests. In Kuda Tagwirei @edmnangagwa has seen that potential
@CrimeWatchZW An important mandate with enormous potential. Wishing Cde Tagwirei success as he works to turn Zimbabwe’s opportunities into investment, enterprise and jobs.
@nickmangwana A sharper institutional focus could strengthen Zimbabwe’s efforts to mobilise capital and drive growth,
creating an opportunity for a more focused and coordinated investment drive.
@DeptCommsZW@edmnangagwa A potentially important shift for Zimbabwe’s economic strategy. Finance manages the purse, while Economic Development drives investment, projects and jobs. Zimbabwe is rising
A beautiful initiative that turns cultural pride into a movement. Our mothers and grandmothers preserved these traditions. It is now our responsibility to pass them on to the next generation. ZimCulturalDiversity
🇿🇼❤️ FIRST LADY DR AUXILLIA MNANGAGWA'S DOEK DRIVE: REVIVING OUR CULTURE, EMPOWERING WOMEN AND PRESERVING OUR HERITAGE
A doek is more than just a piece of cloth. It symbolises dignity, respect, womanhood, cultural identity and the rich traditions passed down from our mothers and grandmothers.
Through her flagship Doek Drive, Zimbabwe's First Lady, Her Excellency Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, is championing the revival of our cultural values, empowering women and encouraging younger generations to embrace and preserve their African heritage.
Launched in Shamva, Mashonaland Central Province, in May 2026, the initiative has reached communities in Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland South, Mashonaland East, Midlands, Matabeleland North, Bulawayo and Harare, demonstrating her commitment to ensuring that no woman, community or province is left behind.
The overwhelming turnout in Bulawayo, where women gathered in colourful doeks, imvunulo and traditional wrapping cloths, reflected the beauty of Zimbabwe's cultural diversity, unity and pride.
Beyond traditional dressing, the Doek Drive promotes Ubuntu/Unhu, respect, family values and the empowerment of women and young girls. It reminds us that embracing modern development should never mean forgetting our roots.
As Zimbabwe progresses towards Vision 2030, Her Excellency continues to demonstrate that cultural preservation, women's empowerment and national development go hand in hand.

Global solidarity. Local action. Healthier communities for a sustainable future. This act by the @ZimFirstLady is a demonstration of how purposeful partnerships can turn international goodwill into tangible, lasting impact.
It was a pleasure to host a dinner in honour of Zimbabwe Care from the United States, celebrating an enduring partnership with the Angel of Hope Foundation that, since 2018, has helped bring quality healthcare closer to communities across Zimbabwe.
My heartfelt gratitude goes to the Zimbabwe Care medical professionals from the United States and our local health personnel, whose time, expertise and resources supported the week-long Masvingo outreach and helped essential medical supplies and other donations reach families in need.
This partnership is a beautiful example of what can be achieved when international solidarity comes together with local commitment. We remain committed to strengthening this partnership and ensuring that its benefits continue to touch the lives of our people.
