Heathrow car fire
@TheSun@DailyMail@DailyMirror & @Daily_Express have been quick to share 'rumours' the car was an EV
Even though @LondonFire has said "A diesel car...was destroyed by fire" and "the cause of the fire is under investigation"

2 weeks ago @BBCNews made a decidedly dodgy claim about EVs:
"The average price of a new EV in the UK is nearly double the cost of a typical petrol car at £22k"
This was categorically wrong, and we're pleased to say our request for a correction has been successful
Lots of Gov EV announcements in last 24hrs
And lots of dodgy reporting
The best/worst being this gem from @BBCNews
"The average price of a new EV in the UK is nearly double the cost of a typical petrol car at £22,000"
Categorically wrong - here's why:

Back in March, we complained to the BBC after @BBCr4today made errors in its reporting on the UK govt's relationship with Tesla
A long overdue update: the BBC has admitted & corrected one of these *mistakes/errors*
A win, but also disappointing... 🧵
Here's some A-grade EV misinformation from the @Telegraph
"EV fires up 77% in two years!!!"
What the @Telegraph fails to mention is that the number of EVs on our roads has gone up 105% in those 2 years
Which means the frequency of EV fires has actually gone down!

Pleased to see the @guardian correct an article from a couple of months ago, which made some dodgy claims about EV demand falling
A short 🧵 on three things they got wrong...
https://t.co/pgkOZ333ch
Today we published some analysis on what a weakening of the Government's EV sales targets - the ZEV mandate - would do to the 2nd hand EV market
It's not pretty
2.7m fewer 2nd hand EVs would be available - adding £40bn in total running costs for UK drivers

So, tomorrow we get the data for new car sales in January 2025
As always, attention will focus on how EV sales performed
And, of late, quite a few misleading things have been said about EV sales
Here's a thread on what they are, and why they're misleading
🚨 A recent article in @thetimes by political editor Steven Swinford contained a major factual error - the claim that demand for EVs was falling
After our complaint to @ipsonews, and some stonewalling by the paper, the article has finally been corrected
A thread 🧵
@GBNEWS Makes sense - EV drivers are happy with their choices (90% wouldnt go back!) and 17% of all new car sales this year to date have been fully electric ⚡⚡⚡
@RGSPE Great day at British Rowing Championships in Nottingham yesterday. Gold for WJ15 quad and Bronze for WJ14 double. From RGs Maddy, Tara, Lydia and Emily with previous winners Meg and Daisy in support.

⚡ We're very pleased to confirm that the UK has hit a major milestone of 50,000 charge points.
🔮 And given the current rate of installation, our calculations show that the UK is likely to reach 100,000 chargers as early as August 2025.

Why @rugbyworldcup in 2023 is your main sponsor the @LandRover_UK Defender? It emits 235-250g CO2 per km. Everytime I turn on the TV to watch a match I cringe at the advert.
📈 Our latest statistics show that 1,999 #EVchargers were added to Zapmap during #July2023.
⚡ There are now almost 46,000 #publicchargers in the UK
💥 There's been a 92% increase in the number of #ultrarapid devices since July 2022.
