I opened a Fixed Income Fund for my daughter and deposited an initial Ksh 50,000.
The plan is to top up the account with Ksh 5,000 every month and target a conservative annual return of about 10%.
By God's grace, that account should grow to approximately Ksh 3.3 million by the time she turns 18 and I will be 48.
Before anyone argues that Ksh 3.3 million will be "nothing" 18 years from now, consider the opposite perspective: imagine someone who started investing 18 years ago and today has Ksh 3.3 million. That person is financially ahead of the vast majority of https://t.co/Umd3Q9uzO5 think of what could have happened if that person thought how 3.3M will be nothing .
One promise I have made to myself is that I will not raise broke children, nor will I depend on my children financially in old age.
As parents, one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is a solid financial foundation, financial knowledge and the freedom to pursue their dreams without starting from zero.
Happy fathers day to us!
@kendihilla Ooh yes, money without discipline and character can be destructive, so I will lay their moral and character ground by instilling good values in them before granting them any monetary benefits
I don’t see a problem with people celebrating their football club winning.
Not everyone can afford skinny dipping in Ukunda every other month. Or taking long drives. We all need an outlet and to most people, that’s sports.
Let people be.
Do I as I do. I don’t give a fuck about football, so I’m going other stuff today. If an arsenal fan tries to cheer next to me, I’ll briefly join because I’m not a narcissistic piece of shit. I respect the things that make other people happy.
Men are very simple beings. A guy just wearing Manchester United jersey walked into the bar, looking unhappy and stressed. He went and sat at the corner table alone. Ordered for cold beer and was busy on his phone. A few minutes later, 3 men came in, saw him and joined him. Apparently, they ALL support the same club. These are people who have never met throughout their mortal lives. Now they are telling stories, and he is all smiles and laughter. They even ordered for Nyama Choma for the beer to drown. I am sure they don't even know his name.
The Geneva-based Institute of Human Rights (IHR) has criticised President William Ruto’s efforts to back Supreme Court Justice Njoki Ndung’u for a position on the International Criminal Court (ICC) bench.
David Koros, the IHR president, stated that President Ruto lacks the moral standing to campaign and lead diplomatic efforts to secure Justice Ndung’u’s election to the ICC, given his alleged role in hindering justice for victims of the 2007/2008 post-election violence.

Let's really appreciate Mikel Arteta for what he has done for us. It's true as they say you don't know what you have till you lose it but seeing Man United celebration qualifying for the champions League just makes me appreciate Mikel Arteta more.
They are celebrating just a qualification something we stopped celebrating I don't even remember the game they confirmed Arsenal that we have qualified for the Champions League next season as Mikel Arteta took us from looking at such things to now focusing on winning it.
Let's appreciate Mikel Arteta 🙏
President Ruto should stop dismissing Kenyans with polished GDP figures, fake growth numbers and fake hustler narratives.
Almost every Kenyan has a story of a relative, friend, or neighbour who was stable two or three years ago but is now struggling to survive. He should leave the podium, go to the ground, and see the real economy....shops closing because rent cannot be paid, businesses dying because customers have no buying power, families skipping basics, and young people losing hope. Go to CBD for instance and see empty shops and stalls.
This tough-headed dismissiveness is exactly what pushed the country into the deadly Finance Bill crisis. Kenyans pleaded, warned, protested, and still the government behaved like citizens were the problem. By the time the climbdown came, families were mourning.
The fact that Oscar Sudi and the people around him are doing well does not mean the economy is okay. Their wealth is not Kenya’s economy. The real economy is in the kiosks, salons, workshops, farms, markets, rental houses, and homes where people are quietly breaking.
Ruto must stop lecturing hungry people about growth. A country is not doing well because those around power are eating. A country is doing well when ordinary people can breathe.
Senator Okiya Omtatah has taken the battle to the High Court with a petition that could change Kenya’s history.
Omtatah argues that of the Sh9.11 trillion borrowed between 2014 and 2024, only Sh2.57 trillion was legally approved by Parliament through Appropriation Acts. He alleges the remaining Sh6.54 trillion is "odious debt" money borrowed unconstitutionally, never appearing in any budget, and never benefiting the people.
The petition specifically targets USD 7.1 billion in Eurobond debt, asking the court to declare it null and void.
In recent sessions, the IMF has attempted to plead diplomatic immunity, seeking to be struck from the case. Omtatah’s team has countered this, arguing that an international organization cannot commit "economic terrorism" by funding illegal processes and then hide behind immunity to avoid accountability.
The Chief Justice has assigned a multi-judge bench to determine this case, acknowledging that the question of whether a nation can repudiate "illegal" sovereign debt is a matter of supreme public interest.

After getting Pope Francis's luggage loaded into the limo, the driver notices the Pope is still standing on the curb.
“Excuse me, Your Holiness,” says the driver, “Would you please take your seat so we can leave?”
“Well, to tell you the truth,” says the Pope, “They never let me drive at the Vatican, and I'd really like to drive today.”
"I'm sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job! What if something should happen?!” protests the driver, wishing he'd never gone to work that morning.
“Who's going to tell?” says the Pope with a smile.
Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 205 km.
"Please slow down, Your Holiness," pleads the worried driver, but the Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.
"Oh, dear God, I'm going to lose my license -- and my job!” moans the driver.
The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.
“I need to talk to the Chief,” he says to the dispatcher.
The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he's stopped a limo going 205 kph.
“So bust him,” says the Chief.
“I don't think we want to do that. He's really important,” said the cop.
The Chief exclaimed, “All the more reason!”
“No, I mean really important,”said the cop with a bit of persistence.
The Chief then asked, “Who do you have there, the mayor?”
Cop: “Bigger.”
Chief: “A senator?”
Cop: “Bigger.”
Chief: “The President?”
Cop: “Bigger.”
“Well,” said the Chief, “who is it?”
Cop: “I think it's God!”
The Chief is even more puzzled and curious, “What makes you think it's God?”
Cop: “His chauffeur is the Pope!”
The morning before my son and I got into an accident, I had a dream that night that someone died but I didn’t know who it was. I was supposed to join hallelujah challenge that night but because I was so tired, I slept off and decided to join in the morning.
I danced that’s morning like never before DAY 10. Eventually woke my boy for school and he said he didn’t want to go, I literally forced him to bath and get ready for school, this was around 7am, we eventually got dressed and left, took a bike from my place, just mid way into the journey the next thing I saw was a car lifting us with the bike from the ground to the sky and back on the ground, my son was in front of the bike 😭😭😭 it was literally dragging my sons head along the tied road, the bike fell on my leg I couldn’t move, infact I thought my son was gone because he was bleeding from his head, nose and mouth
Didn’t know where strength came from but I jumped into a keke and begged him to take us to the hospital, where we had series of head scan MRI to be sure his head was ok, my leg and hand were badly injured but guess what it would have been worse, my dance and praise to God via Hallelujah challenge saved us, you might not believe it but God proved himself that day because if you see pictures from the accident you would ask how we survived..
@nathanielblow please do not stop doing what you do sir ❤️🙏
This was my son on his way to school that morning. And after the accident
