Due pesi e due misure. Penso che molti di voi abbiano visto questo video. Immaginate se fosse successo al Quarticciolo, a Scampia o a Ballarò: i titoli avrebbero parlato subito di delinquenti. Ma siamo a Forte dei Marmi, il luogo dei figli delle famiglie benestanti, dei cognomi che contano. E allora tutto diventa una semplice “bravata”.

Provate a immaginare se i protagonisti fossero stati ragazzi di famiglie povere o, peggio ancora, stranieri. Il racconto sarebbe stato completamente diverso. Questo dimostra che a certa politica e a una parte dell’informazione non interessa davvero la sicurezza dei cittadini, ma solo alimentare una narrazione utile alla propaganda.

Non mi piace giudicare dei ragazzi per gli errori che commettono. Quello che contesto è l’enorme differenza di trattamento tra chi nasce in una famiglia ricca e chi cresce in una famiglia povera, italiano o straniero che sia.

Sono passati due giorni e nessuno ha sollevato il problema. Eppure lanciare biciclette avrebbe potuto uccidere qualcuno o provocare lesioni gravissime. Tutto è stato archiviato come una semplice ragazzata.

La sera, inoltre, come raccontano alcuni residenti, i festeggiamenti sono andati avanti fino alle 5:30. Alla partenza, un SUV ha investito un uomo che stava andando al lavoro in bicicletta, mandandolo in ospedale. Se fosse successo con una vecchia Fiat 500 guidata da un ragazzo di periferia, quale sarebbe stata la reazione?

Questa è l’ipocrisia che vedo ogni giorno: quando sbagliano i poveri diventano subito criminali o “maranza”; quando sbagliano i ricchi, con i cognomi giusti e i conti in banca pieni, tutto si riduce a una semplice bravata.

My wife, our children, and I are immensely heartbroken to learn that Chris Affleck has passed away.

Chris was far more than a friend. She was like a mother to me and Maram, and a grandmother to our two, and later three, children during the time we lived in Cambridge between 2019 and 2020. She took our kids to the Children’s Museum, accompanied Maram to the Cambridge Public Library as she learned English, and made sure we never felt alone.

Thousands of miles away from our families, when Maram gave birth to Mostafa in May 2020, Chris brought us meals, comfort, and the kind of love only family gives.

Many people know Chris as the mother of Ben and Casey Affleck. What many, perhaps most, do not know is that she was also one of the most steadfast advocates for Palestine. During the Covid pandemic, she stopped by to see us with a “Free Gaza” poster displayed on her car.

Whenever I returned to Cambridge or Boston to give a reading or speak, Chris was there. She always greeted us with tears, warm encouragement, and thoughtful gifts for our children.

The last time we saw each other was after my reading at Harvard in February 2025.

In May 2023, I gave Chris a necklace and a ring embroidered by my sister-in-law, who remains in Gaza today. Chris was overjoyed and immediately put them on.

We will miss you dearly, Chris. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your unwavering solidarity.
May you rest in peace.

This is Sheikh Farouk Ramadan.

Yesterday afternoon, he and his family were attacked by settler-terrorists on their own land. Farouk managed to disarm one of the attackers. He took the settler's rifle and shot and killed two terrorists in a clear act of self-defence.

In response, Israeli soldiers murdered him and three of his family members. Israeli government and media portrays him as the terrorist, and the actual terrorists as the victims.

Don't let them push this narrative. Farouk had the full legal and moral right to resist against the genocidal terrorists who invaded his land.

The removal of Khan was a completely impartial process devoid of external interference… except of course for the role of the Israeli government that senior officials openly brag about to the media.
