Jesus just said he was 3 days and 3 nights in the whales belly. He never said Jonah died. You have to bring that assumption in.

Jonah 2:1 (KJV) Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

Jonah prayed from the fish's belly, not the grave, not hell, not anywhere else.

Brother, are you familiar? The Bible does have some things hard to be understood, but Jonah 2 ain't one of them. I don't think we disagree, but The text is straightforward: Jonah prays from inside the fish (2:1) using classic poetic "Sheol" language for near-death peril. I don’t think we actually disagree on careful exegesis, we just land on different readings of this passage. Grace to you.

Let me try again. The text itself defines Who the Father is:
John 10:33 (KJV) The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
Its basic reading comprehension. Its not necessary to try to do mental backflips to interpret a plain text. Where's the limit with this philosophy if we start applying it to verses like "thou shalt not steal" or "thou shalt not commit adultery"? You'd be surprised how many people try to interpet those verses to justify sin, because the verses mean something "deeper."

Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
Pretty clear that Jesus was claiming to be God and the Jews understood Him.
I've witnessed to Muslims multiple times in my life, and this my go-to passage since I don't have to explain the OT references that most Muslims are very unfamiliar with (despite what they say). I don't know why you're attacking me. Aren't we on the same team? Do we need to assume that every verse has some hidden meaning that invalidates the face-value reading? Do we read other texts like this? Nothing I said invalidates deeper study, cross-referencing, or delving into figurative language. I'm simply saying we should be careful about getting interpretations from what the text doesn't say.

I believe that Asians and Latinos are functionally the same culture. Both love rice. Both discipline with sandals. Both have countries and populations that are either extremely academic and successful or poor. Both have a huge population of weebs... New rice cooker BTW

Fair. I'm a bit worse, and I'll actually just wander off as soon as I get an opportunity. Like, yeah, you and someone else are way more invested in the topic, and I'm not even in the conversation, so I'll leave. Lol

I guess in the parent situation, I'm just advocating for grace and patience. At least they are preparing kids for the typical niceties that's necessary to make it in society. No matter how trivial it is.
