The findings revealed that the in-group advantage was not well established, as Chinese listeners appeared more sensitive to recognising happiness and sadness but less sensitive to fear than their Western counterparts, regardless of the cultural origin of the music.

Excited to share this collaboration: We examined the participants and music studied in the last decade of music psychology research. We found that participants (and authors) are predominantly #WEIRD, and that the most common stimuli are Western classical music 🗺️👩‍👧‍👦🎻
