@Ssaasquatch That is how I asked for big crate off egg sizes. The woman pointed it out to me. I told her that I would come back to take it because I need to buy something else.
On getting back, she had put them in a bag for me. When I got home, I saw she mixed it with smallers ones.
@Rufyb The law for thee mere mortals, not for me. Simply remove the policy as you obviously hate the "oyibo" culture. Do not implement it. Stop giving room for misinterpretation and possible victimization.
@hft_trading1988@Rufyb So policy is subject to some Ogas at the top.
Everyday, I keep seeing validations as to why Nigeria is the way it currently is.
P.S your example/analogy is so off point but no wahala.
A hedge fund returned 50% a year for ten years straight. In 2005 the man who ran it sat on a desk at Columbia and taught the entire method to 30 students for free. No bank, no fund, no business school has ever promoted the recording.
His name is Joel Greenblatt. He ran Gotham Capital from 1985 to 1994. Almost nobody sustains 50% annually for a single year. He did it for ten. Then in 1995 he returned all outside capital, kept running his own money, and walked into a classroom.
The first lecture is about corners of the market where the usual buyers are structurally forced to sell regardless of price. Spinoffs, restructurings, situations where an index fund must dump a stock the day it leaves the index. He does not teach a screener or a formula. He teaches why these corners exist at all, and why they keep existing after everybody knows about them.
The uncomfortable part is what he says about diversification. He held very few positions. It runs directly against everything the business school teaches two floors down. Columbia charges $80K a year in tuition. The man upstairs gave away the method for free.
Every screener is free now. Every filing is searchable. The constraint was never information. It was knowing which information to ignore.
Filmed from the back row, audio uneven, students blocking the frame. He gave away 50% a year to a room of 30 people. Almost nobody traded on it.
One classroom. One camera. The full lecture is free. It is in the video.
One sentence; You go just die for nothing, let me explain:
People always have this misunderstanding that a census means you have to count every single individual, but that’s not even remotely how a modern census works. No census counts every single person; it’s always an informed statistical estimate. The population numbers quoted by reputable organisations like the UN aren’t some wild conspiracy, and I’ll show you why.
The easiest real-world identifier that we are already well above 220 million is the current NIN data. NIMC has registered roughly 137 million unique NINs. That database is heavily skewed toward adults (especially 16/18+), but we can take it as a solid single source of truth because you basically can’t open a bank account, get a SIM, or access most formal services without it.
About 49% of those 137 million are women and Nigeria’s total fertility rate is still 4.8 children per woman (latest NDHS). Even if we take a conservative cut and assume only around 40% of the registered adult women are currently mothers and apply the 4.8 average, you quickly get in the region of 100–110 million children.
Add those kids back to the 137 million registered people and you’re already sitting around 240 million — without yet counting the older adults who never bothered with NIN, the large numbers of uneducated and unbanked people in rural areas. That pushes the total comfortably closer to 280–300 million than to anything under 220 million.
Let’s even say you don’t like the NIN number bcos the data isn’t 100% clean, we can cross-check with unique BVN numbers instead (currently about 68–69 million). Run the same rough logic as before: half women, conservative share of mothers, 4.8 fertility and you still land in the low-to-mid 230 millions before adding the missing rural, elderly groups, the numbers trend towards the same direction.
This is just an informed estimate based on the administrative data we have plus basic fertility and age-structure realities. A full census could produce way higher numbers. Still the numbers point clearly one way: we are a lot closer to 300 million than we are to 220 million.
So abeg, don’t die on that hill, you’ll just die for nothing.
MIT filmed a calculus course in black and white decades ago and it still teaches better than most of what shipped this year. Almost nobody watches it.
This is Calculus Revisited, Unit 1, Lecture 1, taught by Herb Gross. Analytic geometry from the ground up, chalk on a board, 1 camera locked in place.
Gross built the course for adults returning to math after years away. No prerequisites assumed. Every idea earned in front of you instead of quoted from a textbook.
The opening move is simple division written on the board. From there he shows why coordinates work at all, the thing most courses skip and every student silently fakes.
Watch how slowly he goes. Each step spoken out loud, nothing left implicit, the pace of someone who expects you to actually follow.
A backend engineer I know rewatched Unit 1 twice before touching linear algebra and said it fixed a gap he'd carried for 12 years.
MIT put the whole course online free under Creative Commons.
Production value aged badly. The teaching didn't.
Me: Chief, you need to exercise so you can lose some weight.
Woman: Pharm thank you, help me tell him.
Man: The exercise that I’m always doing ontop of you is it not enough?
Woman: See what you’re saying outside, let’s not spoil pharm abeg.
Man: Spoil who? Nobody spoil pass this medical guys o, don’t allow them deceive you.
Woman: He doesn’t look like that kind of person.
Man: This guy that I’m seeing like this? Let me not talk sha.
Me:
this is WRONG. they LOVED bureaucracy. romans invented the concept of a building inspector!!! augustus capped apartment blocks at 70 ft because they kept pancaking on tenants, nero wrote an entire building code after rome burned in 64 ad, including mandating wider streets…
