@george_1886@liberal_party In that case explicitly incorporate agreed elements of #canzuk in the agreement currently being finalised with UK.
Others, particularly NZ would be sympathetic to joining a bandwagon and ultimately even Australia would not wish to be left behind.
Otherwise just empty words
@george_1886@liberal_party What stops it, is reluctance of anyone to risk local anti immigrant sentiment by moving first. Incremental trade benefits from #canzuk are limited, gains would come from sharing human resources.
National safeguards would be needed and acceptable.
@EnduringCrownCW@AlboMP Each passing year the populations of #canzuk countries grow more remote from each other. Family ties are being lost & replaced by more recent links. Without being family we will no longer have each others backs. But that is the choice of governments & now peoples of each country
#brexit votes were about memories of Vera Lynn and Empire from #dailymail & #express readers and dislike of "foreign quarters" in northern towns in the red wall. #brexit promoters were those who thought it would provide personal financial or political benefits
@13alscott@READY2MIX@AlastairMorgan A #canzuk partnership would be some compensation for what we have lost with #brexit but there seems no push for this. FTA while welcome are a distraction. Trade is always mostly with neighbours and even after irresponsibly damaging our EU trade, this will remain true.
#canzuk
Where is the compensation for what we lost from #brexit.
We are poorer and our opportunities and quality of life has been damaged.

@PhilipMatson1 @TerraOrBust How???
I used to be able to live work retire in Europe.
Where am I offered an alternative to this.
In fact it is still much easier to do this in EU than Australia or NZ.
And 10p bottle duty saving on wine which I already drink, hardly compensates

@13alscott@TheGreaterUnion Agreed. I believe there is chance of very limited changes to visas associated with FTAs. But the likely outcome is that these will apply equally across EU along with their coming FTA and thus not progress #canzuk. Arguments for canzuk must be social & cultural not economic trade
@suepascoe001 @Canzuk_APPG Australia currently has a shortage of workers and wants more hands. And remember the WHV is a temporary visa no guaranteed route to PR.
And anyway...f**k the parents.
Its the Australian way.
You can always join their 30 yr queue.
Its the Australian sense of humour

@DonaldMorgan99@CANZUK I am not financially dependent on anyone. I am comfortably retired at 73 but my only child and grandchildren are in Australia.
I visit often but its more difficult as I age.
I would like to join them, bringing pensions & savings with me
What help for me?

#CANZUK
Because our #Brexit fanatics are increasingly embarrassed by their failure & damage to country they were so desperate for a deal, any deal, with Australia they allowed UK farmers be taken to the cleaners and got nothing ( bar irrelevant slight extension to WHV) in return
Yet Australia happy to take expensively raised children but still asks isolated parents of 70 yrs to join a 30 year queue for the possibility of joining their children. ( a slight reduction if you pay up front) Its the Australian Way.

After successful lobbying from CANZUK International, the Canadian government has reversed its decision to add restrictions to the Parent & Grandparent Super Visa. π¨π¦ π¨π¦ π¨π¦
Great news for applicants across π¦πΊπ³πΏπ¬π§ who want to reunite with family!

@CANZUKOntario Except even many Tory MPs now believe we would be better off with the FTA Australia is finalising with EU. Little in it for UK economy and even less for UK citizens #canzuk
@CanzukTrade Up to them & nothing to do with friendship trade or family links.
Problem with a President even non exec, is all come with baggage & that can cause division rather than promote unity
But if don't wish to share UK's German Royals. Maybe find their own family? A line of Murdoch's?
@Honest_Sy1 You will find it like #brexit. The embittered bigots & failures, usually in the case of Australia with UK passports in their backpockets, have the loudest voices. As with Russia, Australia future is as China client state.

Trudeau, Ahern prominent in interviews & on shot. Plenty of Canadian flags plus of course the Mounties. I have seen the Hakka
But official Australia apart from a few service men seem to be throwing a Prince Harry sulk no doubt focusing on a few imaginary historic slights
