Our last speaker is Dr Bunce, a Professor of Planetary Plasma Physics at the University of Leicester. Her and her team hope to investigate Mercury’s magnetosphere as well with the ESA/AXA BepiColombo mission to Mercury landing in 2025. #mercuryrising2019

Our third speaker will be Doctor Nicholas Rattenbury, a Senior Lecturer of Physics at the University of Auckland. Rattenbury focuses on detection of extra-solar planets through gravitational microlensing which will help shed light on how planets form. #mercuryrising2019

Our second speaker is Dr Pollard, an Associate Professor in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences at the University of Canterbury and director of the Mt John Observatory. She will be discussing her research surrounding the evolution of stars and Matariki #mercuryrising2019

Our first speaker is Ockie Simmonds! Treasurer of the Society of Maori Astronomy Research and Traditions (SMART), Simmonds is an expert in Maramataka, the Maori lunar calendar. He will be sharing new historical material with the love & joy of knowing the stars. #mercuryrising2019

This beautiful galaxy is called the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy. We have observed six stars die in supernovae within this galaxy so far, but many new star forms in this galaxy as well. #mercuryrising2019 #tuia250 #nasa #space #pinwheelgalaxy
