every parent from our school highlighted that our school is
1) the *most* racially/economically diverse elem school in the region
2) the ONLY community hub &walkable resource for kids in our neighborhood
3) our biggest deterrent to gentrification
parents are the best organizers
our pta crew has been moved to overflow on the FOURTEENTH floor of DPS’ building @ public comment. on the 1st floor we saw ~$15k worth of espresso equipment at the DPS cafe??
but our kids’ small, diverse &thriving school is too expensive according to the board. interesting!
i’d like to understand how dps is able to fulfill the “community outreach” requirements before closing our schools when the meetings are not actually accessible to parents, teachers & community and not all of our board members will even be in attendance? @dps_k12?
as predicted, our school has been officially recommended for closure. many reasons cited are centered around being “too small”. the plan is to split our students between SIX different schools. many options being given to closure rec schools are charter schools (hell no)

I don’t understand why all of us aren’t conditioning our vote on a bare minimal moral opposition to using our tax dollars to burn people alive. Unbelievable.
Palestinians in Jabalia are being slaughtered wholesale by Israel.
They’re dying hungry and thirsty after 8 days of being blocked off from food, water and fuel. Injuries turned into slow-motion death sentences.
The last journalists in the north are posting goodbye messages.
Israel has placed a total siege on north Gaza, its blockade visible from space, and tonight, is relentlessly bombing everyone and everything. The call for an immediate arms embargo is nothing short of a call to prevent the mass murder of 1 million people who remain in the north.
How have we normalised reading people’s final words in tweet form? How is it possible that this causes no moral outrage? No change in policy? Especially in a country that rightly memorialised the 9/11 SMS & voice messages as a symbol of absolute tragedy
The people of Jabalia in Gaza are being systematically exterminated by Israel right now. Men, women, children, infants, are being massacred by siege, tank fire, air strikes, armed drones and more. What will it take for the world to stop this monstrous regime? #JabaliaMassacre
Do you understand what’s happening in north Gaza? People are saying that the Israeli military is ordering them out of their homes and then shooting and bombing them when they do. “Where do we go?” they keep asking. The world has abandoned them and left them to be slaughtered.
Nobel Peace Prize Winner Toshiyuki Mimaki:
“I thought the prize would go to those working hard in Gaza…
In Gaza bleeding children are being held by their parents. It’s like Japan 80 years ago”.
Power of Hiroshima/Nagasaki: 36,000 tons of explosives.
Bombs on Gaza: 82,000 tons.
So to be clear… they’re gassing people, who are trapped in an open-air prison. After starving them. After bombing and displacing them relentlessly for a year. While many of their kin are abused and sexually assaulted in nearby torture camps.
…just to be very clear.
