Chers amis et soutiens,

J'ouvre un compte Tipee. Comme vous vous en doutez, mes prises de position sur la Palestine compliquent ma vie professionnelle.

Cela fait longtemps que j'hésite à vous solliciter, extrêmement gênée par le fait que la priorité absolue est d'aider les Palestiniens de Gaza. Malgré mes faibles moyens, j'ai moi-même donné à de nombreuses cagnottes de Gazaouis, à l'UNRWA et à l'Unicef. Et je continuerai à le faire. Je vous invite à faire de même.

Comme vous le savez, être pigiste est déjà difficile en "temps normal". Tout ce que j'ai fait depuis octobre 2023 ne m'a pas permis d'assurer un revenu régulier pour pouvoir vivre de mon travail.

Être amenée aujourd'hui à demander votre soutien est symptomatique de l'état du journalisme en France. Les voix comme la mienne sont poussées vers la marge, ce qui a des conséquences matérielles.

Alors si vous appréciez mon travail et mon approche et que vous décidez de me soutenir, je vous remercie infiniment de votre don, quel qu'il soit, ponctuel ou mensuel. Je sais que la situation est difficile pour (presque) tout le monde.

a reminder that Israel is not a real country. It doesn't have declared borders. It doesn't have a constitution. Its population does not have family roots in the land prior to the modern advent of zionism. They don't have a native culture, native food, dance, or stories.

Israel is literally the greatest heist of the 20th century that expelled an ancient society and turned their land into a jewish supremacist military outpost murdering its way through time, and constantly cobbling together new stories about itself to suit the latest political whims, while destroying everything that threatens their latest flimsy narrative.

I can hardly imagine anyone who hasn’t seen this photograph. But it was taken on this day in 2000.

I cannot believe the photo is 26 years old now.

The boy in the photograph was Fares Odeh. He was just 14 years old.

Ten days after this image was captured, Fares went out again to throw stones at Israeli tanks, seeking to avenge the killing of his 17-year-old cousin.

An Israeli sniper shot him in the neck, killing him.

And there is another chilling detail to this photograph.

The photo changed Israeli tank doctrine. In August 2001, The Jerusalem Post quoted an anonymous tank doctrinist saying tank personnel were now instructed to fire upon rock-throwers.
