@_R3dRov3r@MrSinister117@Skarrow9 PoE won't die off anytime soon
And with D2, people just wanted a good game, not one that's ended before it truly was worth it for anyone. The June 9th update was a massive step in that direction
@AileInTheValley 40k is viable, but it's half the amount launch had (Or just under). What matters more is retention, and new players who try the game, buying the game
@AileInTheValley I'm glad we could have a discussion about this and not end up like the hate you currently see online
Marathon and Destiny go hand-in-hand due to their shared history, but many misrepresent what is going on
I still believe the numbers are concerning, but not as concerning
@AileInTheValley Hell, Lightfall was scrapped at one point, all because the leaders didn't like it. That resulted in the shitty expansion story we got, and that is marked as when Destiny 2 started to decline in players
@AileInTheValley It was the same with Destiny, which is what made it magical. The only difference is that features were denied by leadership (A practice range, player housing, overhauled clan features, and an expansion about a major threat, but set on the Cabal homeworld)
@AileInTheValley I like the game, but I like D2 more. I wish a world existed where both thrived, or at least one where Bungie's leadership managed properly. Devs need to cook, and it is truly a shame they were held back
It'll be interesting to see how Marathon plays out over the next 3 seasons
@AileInTheValley Now that we've gotten to the core argument, I can agree with this. It's painful to admit, but this is the reality of it
I do think a 37k peak for a new season is not a good look publically, but it is viable because the game is lower maintenance compared to Destiny
WoW has content updates every 4-6 months, with 2-year expansions; FFXIV follows a similar cadence
Destiny 2 was 1 expansion a year, with seasonal content every 3 months. TFS changed it to 1 xpac, 3 seasons (4 months), EoF and Renegades still run on 3-month cycles
You're wrong
"6 month content drought"
ITS AN MMO ITS NOT SUPOSED TO GET MAJOR CONTENT DROPS EVERY 3 MONTHS.
Every other successful MMO on the market does content updates every 1-2 years and holds more players over that time than D2 has.
@AileInTheValley Considering Bungie had 2 major layoff waves, cancelled incubation projects, and it did affect Marathon, I'd say it is a concern for Bungie; Marathon's player base is primarily PC, whereas Destiny is mainly from consoles
Destiny 2 also had many cash cows
@AileInTheValley Guardian Games was going to come out with Shadow and Order anyway, but the delay seems to be when the decision was made to end Destiny
@AileInTheValley Destiny has experienced 6-month content droughts before, especially before TWQ and TFS came out, and TFS had the Into The Light content drop to fill in time
The overall point Paul is making is that the numbers are concerning for Bungie as a whole
@AileInTheValley If Shadow and Order came out, and was not delayed, it would have been 3 months after Renegades launched, meaning there would be no 6-month content drought
@darthyucky@Skarrow9 "Dying" is the loose term to explain matter changing, alongside other anomalies, which would result in Earth becoming uninhabitable
Correct me if I'm wrong (A replay is required), but aren't the IX responsible for almost all we faced since the Red War?
