My only political platform is to symbolically fight against the outgroup's attempt to erect a giant symbol for their symbolic fight against the ingroup symbols.
imagine if all longform writing had sneaky injections like this so people "reading" with an LLM were seeing something completely different from people reading it with their stupid eyes
@zdch The kernel of truth is that authoritarian regimes are higher variance. So if you focus on the right tail because you think you're special, they look pretty good.
(Bane voice: do you feel special?)

@zdch Not a bull case exactly, but one argument is that we need to be able to manufacture electrical components domestically for national security reasons. Analogous to the original argument for the Jones act. But unlike the Jones act, this doesn't require _everyone_ to use domestic.
Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel and he feels all alone in a threatening world. Doctor says, "A powerful new LLM was released, Clyde Sonata 10. Talk to it, it will cheer you up" Man bursts into tears, "But doctor, YOU are Clyde Sonata 10!"
@DistractedAnna In the moment the officer had to make a decision, the vehicle was pointed at him and the rear tires were spinning. He reasonably thought she was coming at him. Her later actions made it clear that she was not. But he has milliseconds to make that decision.
The reason most ambitious men don’t find time with their kids that appealing is because kids are honestly pretty boring.
the solution is to make hanging with them exciting. Mostly by doing sufficiently stimulating (usually dangerous) things together.
Wrestle. Throw them into the air as high as you can. do tricks on a jungle gym. take the car to an empty parking lot and do donuts. etc. You and them will have a blast.
@zdch@HedgeDirty Yeah they may have went to the culture most like their own, or most accepting of their culture. But that doesn't mean it was that similar in absolute terms.
But maybe it is, I could be convinced. The larger point is that the book didn't do much to convince the reader of this.
