@TaraBull808 CO2 only makes up 0.04% of the atmosphere, and can only absorb less than 30% of the outbound heat (no matter the concentration. Fossil fuel combustion only accounts for 7-8% of that portion, so less than 0.004% or 40 parts per million, and somehow fossil fuels are a problem ...
@Xavier080067041 @TaraBull808 it's even worse when you consider CO2 making up 0.04% of the atmosphere, and can only absorb less than 30% of the outbound heat (no matter the concentration) is somehow controlling temperature. Earth would be unstable is that was the case
@wdunlap@wideawake_media and fossil fuel combustion only contributes less than 10%, so 0.004% ... 40 atoms per 1 million of atmosphere ... and somehow that controls the climate, it would be completely unstable if it was the case
@wdunlap@wideawake_media it's even less of an issue when you consider C02 can only absorb less than 30% of the outbound energy regardless of the concentration
@Erickschultz11@amuse the world needs energy, and every source has it's issues. but lets focus on real pollution like air particulates, soil and water contamination, etc. not C02
@Erickschultz11@amuse water vapor also blocks some of the inbound heat, so there's some regulation, and there is nothing we can do about it. The earth is going through a warming phase, but the alternate is 100x worse, we are living in a nice tempered climate between ice ages.
