I have not been following these protests closely, but I've been on twitter long enough to remember the discourse around the CAA/NRC, Article 370, the farm protests, etc. Every one of these issues was characterized in exactly the same way. We were told that the end was nigh, that democracy in India was dead, that the BJP was on its last legs. And yet elections continued to happen, some of which the BJP won, some of which they lost.
At some point the western elites need to realize that the "secular-left" intellectual/activist class in India is taking them for a ride. Their politics has been totally delegitimized in India, but the LARP can still yield patronage, funding, the occasional cushy sinecure...
What we are seeing right now is an attempt to mainstream the 'idea' of a regime change.
Little by little, every day.
No one is advocating violence openly.
Everyone is legally correct and morally ambiguous.
Neha Bora wears a One Piece t-shirt to the protest, which was the symbol of the Gen-Z protests in Nepal, that stormed government buildings. But haha it's just a shirt, why would you make more of it? Don't overreact.
She also claims she is inspired from the revolution in Bangladesh. No mentions of the Hindu massacres or houses of politicians being burnt. Her inspiration could just be the 'spirit of change', why would you assume more? Students all over the world just want better lives, duh!
Dhruv Rathee is only appealing to the conscience of the Army and Cops to do 'the right thing'. What is wrong about that? Shouldn't they do the right thing instead of 'following orders'? Orders can be wrong, you know.
Prashant Bhusan is clearly saying he wants a regime change. But it could also be through elections. Why would you assume it would be a violent overthrow? Did he say that?
Everyday you hear some or the other politician dog-whistle that the 'faisla' will happen on the 'streets' now. What faisla, they don't elaborate. What do they mean by streets? Violence? Or just pressure groups? Not clear.
The CEC is now being called 'Gyanu' in pop-culture. It's the Pappu-fication of a constitutional figure so people don't take him as seriously anymore. The CJI is politely (and impolitely) being called a 'sellout' or 'compromised' by different people to different degrees.
International media and reels have already joined the bandwagon of 130 million deleted voters. International audiences are being told that the Indian government has gone unhinged and there are 'big protests' against the government.
This is the setting of a stage.
To normalize the idea of a regime change, which is not through the ballot box.
Everything and everyone is compromised.
Are you just going to sit and watch, or do something about it?
Get angry now.
When the time is right, we will get to the 'doing' stage.
@DeepalTrevedie Navratri is not cultural, it’s religious. Why should the pass for a religious event specify that it’s only meant for Hindus? I thought idol worship (garba) was a sin in Islam.“Inconvenient people” being asked to leave has always been a thing, this is how you manage events.
I dont get it.
Even in your world, your own politicians scammed you. They pit Indian workers against you, to keep wages low in your economy.
The H1B is an American scam, not an Indian scam. Your politicians, the same guys who engaged in pedophilia on the island, who go to war 10 times a year with random nations, the same politicians who cannot decide if they want to resist Russia-China or kowtow to them, created the H1B program, that you so dearly hate, to negotiate you out of your own labour market.
And you hate Indians?? For legitimately trying to find employment and live a life in another country?
The fact that a large part of Americans remain so (obviously) programmable, year after year, by manufactured political battles and now botfarms is astounding to me.
5 years ago it was trans toilet. 2 years ago it was the jews. Today its indians. Like clockwork.
Americans are trying to fill a god shaped hole in their heart with politics, and they just dont see it.
@talk2anuradha Appeasement politics is the law of the land
Total mobocracy
We must remove useless freeloaders & caste quota holders from the voters list
Only direct taxpayers should be allowed to vote
Men go to see a dangerous job, with nonexistent safety measures and very likely poorly paid, and instead of thinking: "hey, maybe we should do something to improve our conditions," they'll find a way to drag women into this.
A white man wanted to attack a temple during navratri gathering to take Indian lives. every Indian leftist or sepoy who has said, “Indians deserve racism because civic sense, saaar”. the blood is on YOUR HANDS. You helped normalize racism against Indians.
My Hindu female friends invited me to play garba with them, but I politely declined saying it's haraam and invited them over for dinner instead. I'll be making beef biryani for them, they love the taste of it.
That's why I keep saying danda is the only way forward. No amount of education or waiting for culture to change will work without enforcement.
