Because of this community, 336 books are funded and ready to reach new psychiatrists at the start of their careers.
Share this milestone with someone who believes metabolic psychiatry deserves a place in mainstream care.

Today’s @nytimes piece highlights early research from Stanford University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Edinburgh — alongside the stories of individuals who have shared their lived experience here on Metabolic Mind.
This kind of visibility matters. It reflects years of work by researchers and clinicians like @ChrisPalmerMD, @ShebaniMD, and @IainCampbellPhD, research funded by @BaszuckiGroup, advocates like @janellison, as well as the many people who have been willing to share their personal stories.
Lived experience alone isn’t enough. Early data alone isn’t enough. But together, they point to something that must be tested, confirmed — or challenged — through high-quality science. That’s why we are excited about several RCTs currently completed or underway around the world.
We need to continue efforts to advance education, public awareness and research on a scale that will require public funding. That’s how medicine moves forward. And that’s the exciting work ahead.
Most psychiatrists graduate without ever learning about metabolic approaches.
This is where change begins.
One book can shape how a psychiatrist cares for patients for decades.

New: A small clinical trial led by Stanford Medicine researchers found a high-fat ketogenic diet may help those with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder by correcting metabolic issues and, potentially, improving psychiatric symptoms.

If you struggle to stay consistent on your low-carb or keto diet, take the pressure off. 🙌
Don’t worry about eating strict keto all the time, every day, from this moment forward. Start with one meal. Your next meal. 🍽
Obesity is ALL about calories? Hardly. Correlation is not strong (0.6). The Irish, eating almost the same as Americans have 28% less obesity. Belgians, eating MORE than Turks have 35% less obesity? Austrians, eating MORE than Germans, have 30% less obesity? Calories is missing about 40% of the problem.
New research finds impaired brain energy metabolism is associated with cognitive impairment in psychotic disorders.
Imagine if we had treatments to improve brain energy metabolism. 🤫

I received this email today.
I'm calling on the entire metabolic and mental health community to help!!!
Please share this widely so we can amass practical, helpful suggestions for my friend about how to do keto under his circumstances. Those of you who have felt overwhelmed by the prospect of using diet to treat disease, can you offer hope by sharing how you approached the struggle? Are there others of you out there who still feel this way and also need help? Please share in the comments.
Meanwhile, @BaszuckiGroup and @Metabolic_Mind will be doing everything we can to make therapeutic nutrition more accessible and available as a reimbursable expense. We have a long way to go but that is true of any meaningful endeavor.
