@pwharris I divided 312 by 2 to get 156, then divided that by 2 to get 78, and finally divided that by 2 to get 39. I know I can do that because 8 is 2^3, or 2 x 2 x 2. So 312 / 8 = 39.

@pwharris 4/16 is 1/4, so 1/4 of 1/5 is 1/20 and then 1/4 of the other 1/5 is also 1/20, so both 1/20 together make 1/10.

I never really thought before about how, when you divide a strip of paper in two, you can label one part 1/2 AND you can label the cut 1/2. And that is not obvious to kids! "Half" is an area and it's a measure of distance. Whoah. #ReachMoreStudents

@pwharris I know 48 is 2x2x2x2x3 so I divided by 2 four times and then by 3. So I got 588, 294, 147, 73.5, and then to divide 73.5 by 3, I took it apart, first 60 by 3 and getting 20, and then 12 by 3 and getting 4, and then 1.5 by 3 and getting .5. So 24.5. #MathStratChat

@davidporas Here’s my tip for attending sessions. Go *straight* to your next session without stopping. Put some stuff on a chair to save your place, and only then, if you need to, grab food/drink or use restroom. Enjoy!
