@morganlefay777#777F2017 Pretty soon after school, so teens can come on the way home, as opposed to going home and then deciding they don't want to go out again.
@shericew8780 @TheBeardedBook#777F2017 I just switched from working with teens to elementary aged students, and it has been a nice change. I like the content I can do with teens better, but love the enthusiasm of children. Worth visiting elementary and middle/HSs before making your decision.
@librarianmissy #777F2017 Generally no, but I've noticed at points that introverted teens sometimes shy away from getting actively involve as leaders and prefer to be more passive participants.
@MichaelBuono@TheBeardedBook@reneereads#777F2017 Knowledge of how teens perceive and use the internet is lacking in librarians who aren't tech savvy. Important because the internet is a/the centerpiece of many teens' worlds.
@MichaelBuono@TheBeardedBook@reneereads#777F2017- My library caters to students who read below grade level, and initially, there were minimal high interest low level books. I spoke to admin about a book order so that teens had access to other books aside from picture/elementary school books.
@StauberMimi@LibrarianSwoosh#777F2017 We haven't talked much about differentiation with teen programs, but that is definitely a great point to bring up. After all, the library can be a place of learning, just like a classroom.
@MichaelBuono@reneereads@TheBeardedBook @lbraun2000 @yalsa A2: #777F2017 Each neighborhood is different - A library in the Bronx has totally different needs than a wealthy suburban library, and rural libraries have different needs as well. There is also definitely value in collaboration as well though!
@MichaelBuono@TheBeardedBook@reneereads Q5: Ensure that teens understand that you are a professional adult, but are interested in getting to know them as individuals. Small group conversations can be quite effective b/c teens may feel more comfortable with other peers! #777F2017
#777f2017 #1 use of social media on this list is to promote programs! Definitely a way to address the challenge of teen awareness of library programs - post it on social media! https://t.co/kyfWSUNNlr

#777f2017 Teens who are big readers might enjoy meeting each week to write book reviews on the latest YA and MG book releases! A challenge would be acquiring all the books though. https://t.co/ygcnBmFUq4
#777f2017 This could be an interesting and engaging teen program that could be executed with minimal cost in the library. Money is always a challenge! https://t.co/oRt9NRVYth
#777f2017 Has anyone tried this in their library? Looks like something teens would love! Would be great to try in NYC. Could incorporate with a trip to a film festival here. https://t.co/aHsYnQcopH
