It really gets to me every time someone asks me what my profession is and I tell them I’m a librarian and they look at me with surprise as if a African American male can’t be a librarian

Once you are “in” show them what you have to offer. What amazing resources are available through your library? (databases, ebooks, etc.).
I think the desire to increase teen participation should be incorporated in the program design from the get go. Involve the teens in the affairs of their space and programs. They will own it and increase as they pass the message #777f2017
#777F2017 i honestly find no purpose charging teens for certain things in a library. I think it discourages them to come back to the library. Do you agree?
How productive will it be to ask teens this question after a failed program: "As teens what would you have done differently if it was you organizing the program?" #777f2017
@MichaelBuono The scariest thing about being a teen in my opinion is life after graduation. Will they go to college or seek a job. Not knowing the unknown
