Veterinary and animal health experts from across Eastern Africa have gathered in Kigali for the Regional Training on Strengthening Surveillance Capacities for Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) and other transboundary animal diseases.
Convened by the Pan-African Secretariat for PPR Eradication (PAPS), hosted by AU-IBAR and funded by the European Union, the training aims to strengthen regional surveillance, enhance early detection and response, and accelerate Africa's goal of eradicating PPR by 2030.

The discussions underscored the critical importance of forging stronger partnerships and securing sustainable financing to accelerate progress toward a PPR-free Africa by 2030. Participants also recognised and appreciated the invaluable support provided by @FAOAfrica & @au_ibar
