Unlike Trump's first and third wives (Ivana and Melania), and unlike the person Trump chose to lead DOGE (Elon Musk), and unlike the person Trump named to be his AI czar (David Sacks), and unlike the GOP's Colombian-born Ohio Senator Trump endorsed (Bernie Moreno), and unlike Trump's top WH terrorism advisor (Sebastian Gorka), and Trump's first Transportation Secretary (Taiwan-born Elaine Chao), Hasan Piker was born in the US to parents legally in the US.

And while it's true that Piker's parents weren't American citizens when he was born, the same is true of the Cuban anchor baby whom Trump chose as his Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, Marco Rubio.

But all that aside: I'm just so happy that we no longer have to indulge the deceit that GOP scumbags like you believe in free speech. It's a relief to watch you admit that you think even American citizens should be banned from speaking at public colleges or even deported due to their views.

A24’s ‘Tony,’ starring Dominic Sessa as a young Anthony Bourdain, is an unexpected choice for Matt Johnson’s Hollywood entry. The 40-year-old Canadian filmmaker’s first two features — 2013’s ‘The Dirties’ and 2016’s ‘Operation Avalanche’ — were loose low-budget films starring himself, made by messing around with friends, and built on spontaneity and the belief that a movie reveals itself in the edit. Running alongside those two films was the project that made Johnson a cult figure: ‘Nirvanna the Band the Show,’ which was adapted into a feature film that sent Johnson crisscrossing North America on a nearly sold-out screening tour. Once known mostly to Toronto cinephiles, he now gets routinely recognized on the street — including when he spent a day with Vulture critic Nicholas Quah.

‘Tony’ is as much a biography of Bourdain as Johnson. The character of Bourdain’s mother, played by Dagmara Dominczyk, is directly inspired by Johnson’s mother, a physician whose exacting standards both intimidated and shaped him. The young Bourdain’s early self-mythologizing echoed Johnson's own instinct to invent himself before he'd earned it: “Lying and manipulating — putting on a false identity of somebody who has achieved something, even though I had done nothing — was a way to patch things over,” Johnson says, “because I felt there was an expectation on me to be great.”
