In 2025, the regime in Belarus pardoned 342 people. This step can only be welcomed 🙏
💔 But 509 new people were recognized as political prisoners. More than 1,100 people remain behind bars.
Repression must stop. Every political prisoner must be released!
🌍32 foreigners are now among political prisoners in Belarus
Despite high-profile pardons in late June with U.S. assistance that led to the release of several foreign political prisoners, Belarusian authorities continue to persecute foreigners. Recently, news broke of the detention of a Poslka citizen on charges of "espionage" and the persecution of a British citizen convicted of "supporting extremist activities."
Today, more than 30 people are being held behind bars - they are citizens of Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Russia and other countries. According to the Center for the Defense of Human Rights, at least 88 foreigners have suffered politically motivated persecution since 2020. Among them are women, people of retirement age and even people with serious illnesses

#Germany has stopped all humanitarian admission procedures, incl. humanitarian visas for politically persecuted people from #Belarus. We are shocked by this change. It not only abandons politically persecuted Belarusians, but also puts them in danger! https://t.co/3tDYsGuWCr
#Belarus Natallia Dulina, a recently released political prisoner and university lecturer, recounted how she was taken to the KGB prison in Minsk yesterday morning without explanation.
There, the prison’s deputy head asked if she would admit guilt. When she refused, he told her she would be executed - “на расстрел.” Natallia says this is the kind of “joke” they make. During the transfer, a black bag was placed over her head.
It is a stark reminder of the regime’s complete disregard for human dignity.
For 14 people, their years of suffering under inhumane conditions of detention have finally come to a happy end. But there are still well over a thousand political prisoners in Belarus!

My husband Siarhei is free! It’s hard to describe the joy in my heart.
Thank you, 🇺🇸 @POTUS, @SPE_Kellogg, @JohnPCoale, DAS Christopher W. Smith, @StateDept & our 🇪🇺 allies, for all your efforts.
We’re not done. 1150 political prisoners remain behind bars. All must be released.

Trump and Vance act as if the problem is that Ukraine is resisting an ongoing Russian invasion. The problem is the ongoing Russian invasion. If they want to use American power to stop the war, apply it to the aggressor. Abusing the victim is not going to end a war of aggression.
More than 3,270 Belarusians were convicted for participating in protests against the falsified election results in 2020
