I know that most of these places aren’t going anywhere quick, but we’ll keep talking and pushing the powers that be. As a social worker I’ll continue to fight against the oppressive and racist policies that come up daily in this twisted system.

Instead he was labeled as still needing services and aggressive. He died in care due to no fault of his own. We need proactive services not removals.

Or at home services? Or whatever the barrier may be.

maybe if you’re getting somewhat viral for coming out to BYU with a rainbow flag on your grad robes, it’s better to not have worked in the troubled teen industry where you’d be part of the system to punish kids for seeming too gay

It was definitely more than this. Paperwork never got done correctly or on time. These restraints were the ones documented, and on camera.

That is not what he received at Lakeside.

It didn’t help that the state licensor was extremely close with Lakeside management, and helped cover up majority of these incidents. He blamed it on the students 90% of the time. He protected management constantly. Action plans were surface level and never followed up on.
