It's wild to think that if Ruben Amorim had not basically forced the #MUFC executive's hand to fire him (after all the poor performances and results they backed him through), we could very well have been choosing his very narrow view of football over a home-grown talent like Kobbie Mainoo.
I still find it mind-boggling that he could not find a role for him in his system, nor that his system (which had TWO 10s) still resulted in Fernandes playing as 10.
Carrick's #MUFC not perfect, but with a flawed squad, he's gotten the absolute best out of his best players, and that's papered over the cracks in the squad's deficiencies.
The carrot of #UCL football will hopefully give the club - and whoever it chooses to be its manager (would have to be a pretty special manager to justify not giving it to Carrick though) the opportunity to attract the calibre of player required to help this squad transition for top-four contention to title challengers.

I'm delusional enough to believe that with Champions League and a decent window #MUFC could return to title contention next season but it really would be a great injustice of Bruno finishes his United career without a title. What a player.

Small update on this one. After almost 90 minutes of debate, Councillors did vote to go ahead with the contract to put the lights in at JH Allan.
It's incredible that we had to rally so many members as part of the advocacy effort for work that was contracted.
If you're a true sicko and want to see the debate, it's actually pretty entertaining in parts.

Debate runs from about 61 minutes to 2h 20 minute mark.
Honestly, it's stupid that this even needs to be done, but if all football supporters in Vic, and in particular Melbourne's North-West, could get onto this petition from @footballvic, that would be great.
The J H Allan Reserve needs lighting to keep up with the football demand https://t.co/hz3WH0T9cS via @ChangeAUS
The project was passed at Budget, was voted on and passed again to award the contract, before the same Councillors who voted it in, decided to pause it at the 11th hour, risking ratepayer money and the council's reputation with contractors.
@Warbraindrew@footballvic Moonee Ponds United. Royals use it in extended season before we get Cross Keys back for YPL juniors and sometimes seniors. But it's considered Moonee Ponds home ground

This is particularly timely after last night's Moonee Valley City Council meeting, councillors voted to pause a project that would install lights on a soccer field despite the project being included in the June 2025 budget & a contract awarded by a council vote in September 2025.

I never thought that when I fractured my cheekbone at Eltham North Reserve while contesting a header in the bottom tier of state football in 2010, I would be working on hype cuts of their climb through the Victorian football pyramid 16 years later.
