In another trial, a peptide cream for expression lines left about half its users with clearly improved lines within a month, and no one on placebo did.
Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the specialist trades of the site. In one 12-week trial, a signal peptide reduced wrinkles against the identical moisturiser without it.
Vitamin C is the mortar. The enzymes that lock collagen into its strong, rope-like shape cannot work without it, which is why a diet lacking vitamin C causes scurvy.
Like retinol, vitamin C oxidises in air and light. A serum that has turned orange-brown is showing that oxidation, a sign it has lost some potency. In one small study, vitamins C and E with ferulic acid reduced markers of UV damage on their own.
Picture the structures that keep skin firm, such as collagen and elastin, as a building under constant renovation. Sun and time tear it down a little at a time. The skin's own cells are the crew that rebuilds it, though a little more slowly with each decade.
In a landmark biopsy trial, about a year of prescription tretinoin raised new collagen formation by 80%, while skin given the same cream without it lost ground. Retinol and retinal, sold over the counter, are other options, each with its own balance of results and irritation.
What actually works for your skin? Every shelf and feed promises younger skin, so what does the published research actually show? Here is what the human trials found, and what it means for your own skin.
@poteto@elonmusk@xai Why can’t Grok Bot join Teams or Zoom meetings as a note taker? I want to replace my AI note taker and can replicate everything in the workflow easily except joining & recording. Would be great to expand that integration.
Minoxidil is metabolized and excreted just like the vast majority of drugs you take. Any existing drug you use will be a temporary solution. It’s not that your follicle gets worse after you stop - the dependence is just a simplification - it’s that your hair reverts to the state it would have been if you never took Minoxidil (continued loss).
Also it’s very common for drugs to have discovered effects outside original indications during initial testing.
You don’t need to know the mechanism for FDA approval but that doesn’t mean safety testing is skipped. It’s the same rigorous process regardless. There’s no issue there.
Since Minoxidil has been around for decades and subject to many clinical trials post-approval, it’s actually a safer option since it’s well studied. Side effect profile is pretty well established.
@poteto I think the evolution can happen far earlier than neural interfaces. Agents integrated with visual intelligence like AR or VR interfaces will add another dimension beyond chat. Combined with how easy it’s become to mod software, this can lead to hyper customization in daily life.
@davidasinclair Doesn’t mean anything for humans, it’s still the gold standard until we see Clascoterone reliably show equivalency in topical studies (Phase 3 so far). Also difficult to control for all these extraneous factors as well if you attempted a human trial for all of these endpoints.
@PaperBagInvest Agreed, Grok Bots have put my productivity on hyperspeed. Really recommend @poteto dr eggbot, it’s a Bot that helps configure agents better & faster. Really wish they had an Astra level model behind this @elonmusk !!
I’ve been transitioning more work from dots & Claude to Grok.
