We have been joined by Hon Simon Mulongo, Minister of State for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations at @Moglsd_UG. This year's WDACL is commemorated under the theme: "Accelerating Action to end Child Labour: Dignity and Full Potential of Every Child."
Participants received certificates upon completion of the training, marking an important step in strengthening chemical safety and occupational health practices across the Eastern Region.
@Mglsd_UG, through the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, concluded a 2-day Chemical Safety and Security Training for stakeholders in Eastern UG. The training strengthened participants’ knowledge & capacity to promote safer workplaces & responsible chemical management.
As the training concluded, participants reaffirmed their commitment to advancing chemical safety and security practices in their respective workplaces. Building a strong culture of prevention remains central to ensuring safe, healthy and productive work environments for all.
Participants were also taken through Uganda’s legal and institutional framework for OSH, while experts highlighted the health risks associated with uncontrolled chemical exposure and shared practical strategies for prevention, risk mitigation and worker protection.
Participants in the two-day training, held from 10–11 June 2026 in Mbale, engaged in discussions on chemical safety and security at the workplace, exploring practical measures to prevent accidents, injuries and occupational illnesses associated with hazardous chemicals.
Uganda will join the rest of the world to commemorate the International Albinism Awareness Day on June 13, 2026 under the theme, Proudly in my Skin: Celebrating all Skin tones at kamuli District.

A shock responsive cash top up initiative to Senior Citizens Grant beneficiaries in Moroto, Napak, Karenga, Kotido and Kaabong has been launched. Payments begun today in Moroto, Napak and Karenga, to support the elderly during the June- August drought.
